The Decalibron Loop is a hike near Alma, CO that always you to reach the summit of four of Colorado's 14ers. Decalibron gets its name from the combination of Mounts Democrat, Cameron, Lincoln, and Bross.
Since it's a loop, Decalibron can be done clockwise or counter-clockwise. We chose to start counter-clockwise and headed up Mount Bross first. We reached the summit right at sunrise to spectacular views. From there it was an easy walk along the ridge to the summits of Lincoln and Cameron.
After Cameron, we descended down to a saddle between Cameron and Democrat. Here, the trail continues up to the summit or turns to go back down to the trailhead. It appears that A LOT more people come out just to hike to the summit of Democrat than to do the DeCaLiBron loop as we passed a large number of people at this point.
Democrat is probably the steepest actual hiking of the four 14ers, but nothing technical. The summit offers incredible 360-degree views!
Overall, this hike is great for beginners looking to get some 14ers under their belt.
