tbh, the banning of graphic footage seems to hamper even acquiring information on stuff these days, like, just say the video has violence and now you can't even analyze what's going on. No, the news has to do that for you first...

@@redline841 Google runs this platform. A man named Hayden Hewitt who lives here in England ran LiveLeak. He is relaunching as "ItemFix" a KZbin channel called "Trigger Warning" and a website called altfeed.org. Look at who runs the platforms? Google, a megacorpo who make a lot of money and have an interest keeping that. LiveLeak was there out of "passion". Mr Hewitt would likely be under fire from UK law for running that website because of our shitty bri'ish hate speech laws. Hewitt is 10000% less mature than a megacorpo, but he is more human.

I remember thinking that since no horror movies really shocked or disturbed me that I’d watch one of the gore videos. I watched a cartel execution video and I was almost sick. I was utterly disgusted and revolted by it. There is a huge difference in seeing someone being killed in a movie or a tv show and seeing a video of a real person being killed. Because it hits you that it’s real and that person had a family. I still think back to that and how disturbing it was. Safe to say, I never watched any more gore videos after that. It still sends a chill down my spine. The world is a messed up place.

I was in such a rush to grow up as kid. I was watching porn and gore sites with my friends in elementary school. We thought we were more grown up because we could handle watching it. I came to realize years later that all this shit was fucking me up. I became desensitized to violence and crazy shit. It changed the way I viewed things. It was bad for my mental health. It was a slippery slope with a bad ending. I stopped watching all that shit years ago, and it’s been good for me. I even saw a shock video not too long ago and got super grossed out by it. I used to watch gore as basically a form of self harm, it would stress me out so much and make me feel so low that I would willingly watch it to keep myself low because of other circumstances making me hate myself. I'm really glad I was able to get out of that, and I didn't get numb to watching people die. I actively avoid it as much as possible, so much so that low resolution or chaotic phone videos and security camera footage usually goes unwatched whenever I see them randomly on a social media site.

As someone who's been through a "gore phase" I can confidently say it is a weird form of self harm. Looking back at it now, I was in a pretty fucked up place mentally and that content only helped feed my poor mental health. I thought of it as if it was some kind of challenge, always trying to one up what I could handle, thinking I'd become numb to it if I watched enough, I didn't. It was honestly a spyral with no end. I understand and in some ways respect the mission to "show the reality that most other places don't dare show" but I couldn't be happier I got out of that cycle when I did as I'm in a much better mental place now.

What other reason would anyone watch a video of a guy getting decapitated with a pocket knife in the middle of the woods other than getting some fucked up psychopathic thrill? I genuinely hate when people show kids actual gore because "lol they gotta learn the world is not all happy!!" like just talk to em about it! I learned because my grandma would talk to me about safety and use different murder cases n such as examples. I also hate people who are in a group and just start showin random people gore cus it's "edgy" or whatever, theyre always weirdos. That's comin from someone who's favorite movie is kinda gorey.

I do not understand how people watch so many gore videos so confidently. The one video I remember was a girl splattered on the road (her intestines were everywhere and so were her limbs, she either jumped off a building or got hit by a car) and the mother scooping up her remains and crying. That video made the my stomach drop and made it a bit hard to sleep that night. Gore videos are hard for me to watch not because they scare or gross me out but because the thought of that being my loved one really hurts. I would never want someone I love or care for to go through that torment and trauma.

viewing gore sights definitely depends on you and your situation. for some, it can be extremely traumatizing. for others, it can be a reminder of what death is, and how horrible it can look like and be. i think about death a lot, which is why personally these type of videos affect me. i think about the person, how afraid they might have been to die. i think about experiencing that for myself, and think about myself in their situation. these don’t exclude suicide videos, just because you have an impulsive trigger happy hand doesn’t mean you’re not scared to die. it’s sad to see some of these peoples bodies to be disrespected.

Yea literally there's an image that was uploaded to regular reddit a couple years ago (so post sanitization even) and it isn't something I like, regret seeing or anything because it was a "look at this happy ending" but it was someone who had been mauled by a bear, like their hospital intake photos. Their head was half gone. They lived and the plastic surgeons made them look human again. How much that image has stuck with me is proof that anything worse or that wasn't shared for a good purpose (it was like r/humansaremetal) would never leave my brain. For me since I'm in the medical field it's not a big deal since it's literally the most graphic photo I've ever seen besides a sky burial I accidentally scrolled by yesterday and that was just a yikes skeleton with a raptor by it lol and I was like questioning my life choices of not blurring nsfw on my new reddit install lol. And like, when I think about that bear photo I immediately think of the "after" photo and the surgeons and the person and their family. I can't imagine having an image just chilling out in my brain where there is no "after" photo. Edit: went back to look at it, the before photo has me physically shaking but the after photo makes me so effing happy. I agree. I looked at my first gore site when I was around 15 years old. I was curious and it did have a small effect of me back then. Now I’m 27 and once in a long while I’ll get curious and check out a site but it honestly traumatizes me more now than when I was a teenager. I don’t know if it’s because I have a better understanding of what’s going on but yeah, it really can mess you up if you’re not careful. It’s just not worth the risk to your mental wellbeing.

The sign is a subtle joke. The shop is called "Sneed's Feed & Seed", where "feed" and "seed" both end in the sound "-eed", thus rhyming with the name of the owner, Sneed. The sign says that the shop was "Formerly Chuck's", implying that the two words beginning with "F" and "S" would have ended with "-uck", rhyming with "Chuck". So, when Chuck owned the shop, it would have been called "Chuck's Feeduck and Seeduck".

The internet in the last few years has become a much more censored place. These sites were a way to view information raw and uncensored that showed the world for what it truly is. You'd learn the true weight behind all these stories that you hear on the news when you see just how truly horrific they were. Seeing such information helps you realize just how precious life is and to not take what you have for granted.

I see a lot of people surprisingly mourning the loss of some of these sites. I understand that it can give you a new perspective on reality, some can even disregard censorship and just show you what he reality is. But i feel like a lot of the people are mourning for the wrong reasons, apparently some people are addicted to watching extreme gore and find it cool or funny? As someone who has seen the pinnacle of what people can do , from simple beheadings to children being skinned alive or having their heart ripped out of them while their alive in front of their parents, its safe to say that this content has desensitised many people (myself included) and has negatively changed peoples outlook on life. Some gore videos should be acceptable i think, such as those in nations at war that have mass civilian murder like in South Sudan and Israel or Palestine. However i think that showing what cartels do and what terrorists in general do is a bit backwards, they want you to watch it, they're gaining heavily from it, even if they just upload to other sites its a much smaller audience.

I am so relieved that this era is coming to an end. I can’t stand gore, because of the way it makes me feel, the unease it gives me throughout the day, it became so bad that I physically couldn’t handle seeing them without puking. My “friends” thought this was hilarious and kept sending me bait and switch links to extremely shocking videos. I used to tell myself it wasn’t real but quickly learned that a vast majority of them were. It is disgusting, and really fucked with me, and still does. I never thought of it as a way to grow up, in fact, I think it’s against human nature to want to see those things so I was constantly questioning the sanity of others. The most harmful thing for me was that it made me question my own sanity, because I kept on thinking about it and had, like you said morbid curiosity. It still exists in sanitized form... pretty much just porn now, but used to host some very unpleasant and disturbing videos and images. One such was a video of a woman in some middle eastern country being punished for stealing something. Her hands and feet were chopped off with a machette, tossed in a pile, and then her stumps were torniquetted, wrapped in grocery bags.. she was forced to walk on her leg stumps, and then put on a bus by soldiers to fend for herself. I think she was drugged or something, because I can't fathom how she was conscious. Fucking barbaric. Saw that shit, like 25 years ago, and it is still burned into my brain. @@foolgoboom8766 spent too much time as an edgy 13-15 year old/mostly raised myself on a computer so it was only a matter of time until I eventually found shit like that. After being exposed to all of that at a young age and still turning out (mostly) ok I really can’t understand how people turn into sociopaths/pedophiles. Must be genetics

i remember an intense fear i got after finding out brains are just meat. like i knew. but seeing it as a 12 year old gives a special kind of anxiety. it never stuck as anything traumatic though, it's still just an image, i knew that back then, just changed my view of reality

I never had a phase with these sites so seeing people going down these rabbit holes it was always more of a indication of ones mental health rather than how cool they wanted to appear to be. I also just feel really uncomfortable with anyone who can watch a lot of Gore videos without reacting since it seems like a clear indication of lack of empathy than anything else.

Signs of psychopathy to me
@Stuntman175
@Stuntman175 2 жыл бұрын
It isn't lack of empathy, more than likely it's simply just burnout. Your brain tends to disengage while watching such content as a way of protecting itself, repeated exposure to it ends up becoming something similar until no reaction is available anymore. Same thing if you start working in waste collection, the smell after a while stops being noticeable due to prolonged exposure and your brain telling you that everything is normal. The smell is still there, strong as it ever was, you just don't notice it anymore.
