Looks like an excellent print as well, how delightful to finally see this after all these years of following Miss Vivien Leigh

You either love the oldies or you watch them to find fault. Admittedly Vivian Leigh is no longer Miss Scarlett. However, she had major health problems in her later years. If I recall correctly she died of TB.

Your first sentence is ridiculous : The world is not ONE or the OTHER, it’s BOTH. . . Why are you so threatened by criticism? It’s how things improve and evolve, after all. If you take a college Art class, you will participate in a “Critique” at the end, and you will learn a LOT. The lack of critical thinking is one of our biggest societal failures, and shaming others for using their brains is a form of bullying!

@@vivienleighcircle9805 TV? This was obviously a theatrical release was it not? With 2:55 I doubt it was shown successfully on TV in the UK...unless horribly reformatted which I doubt.

I can’t imagine reviving such a dated play (as described above) and the movie hasn’t aged well, either. . . It’s a glorified soap opera, with a rather inadequate performance by Vivien Leigh-who looks a bit too old and tired for the part, sad to say. (The terrible makeup job done on her doesn’t help.) If I watched it again, I’d count how many times she puts on, and takes off, her coat. . . .
@LFire12Күн бұрын
They remade it in 2011 with Rachel Weisz and Tom Hiddleston. It's had multiple top cast stage revivals since then too.

Coat changed. Bright blue, to more subdued neutral color. I didn't like this film, either. I was disgusted by Hester.

@@LFire12 Hard to believe! Maybe the others were better, but this story just doesn't seem worth it. Pathetic people.
@nanwilder2853Күн бұрын
@@LFire12: What is your point? It doesn’t change my opinion of the original movie at all. It’s a soap opera full of adolescent melodrama, with narcissistic characters rushing off to escape each other and their own adulthoods. Some actors love that stuff, but I’m just flat out over it. . . .
@nanwilder2853Күн бұрын
@@shadowlouise: Really appreciate your comment, SL! (The coats!) Whether in real life, or (merely) reflected in movies, our society has a deep tendency towards DYSFUNCTION in close and/or intimate relationships. Personally, I’ve had it with those stories being glorified by Hollywood, for the sake of actor’s egos and careers.
