i wrote this monologue for gale and cameo'd tim downie to read it in character! you can find it at my above accounts ^-^
spoilers for baldur's gate 3 ending with gale, who's decided to pursue the crown of karsus. this was written before patch 5.
in this, you have romanced gale and disagree with pursuing the crown at the last moment, and he says that it's time for you to part ways. he acquires the crown and ascends to godhood, forgoing his humanity, and you.
(this is obviously the bad end angst stuff.)

I have watched a lot of cameos videos from brilliant actors and they always rush their messages, when they read texts in characters they speak quickly. But him? 5 mins straight into a deep breathtaking monolog (good writing btw!!) Flawless, taking his time, putting his heart into it. It's amazing, first time I see an actor respecting a text like this I'm, wow. Speechless. What a good man.

Very well written and moving as a monologue, brought to absolute truth and life by Tim. I WISH this could be in the game as a possible ending....how bittersweet for poor Gale, and yet still better than dying to Mystra. I hope Larian calls you and adds it at some point! It could all come to an intelligence check against Mystra. Well done, both of you!

thank you! i put a lot of thought into it and a lot of heartache came from it. (very well intended) tim is on cameo!! it's a website where you can essentially have celebrities (or whomever is on cameo) pass messages onto people. VAs can do stuff in character, and i asked tim beforehand if he would be willing to read a monologue i wrote for gale. (it's 3 dollars to message them & they're not obliged to message back.) he wrote back that he would be happy to do it and yeah!! you don't have to submit them anything specific, can just be like "i'd like a birthday message for xyz" or something. c:

This… snuck on me. I don’t see Gale as a romance option particularly (I only have eyes for Astarion and Halsin and wish Minsc was an option too 😭) but this monologue and his delivery broke me down. I know he died to get the crown in one of the endings I got, got his phantom image (or whatever it is) and hugged it… and then that hit me too. God(s). And his delivery on “I understand why I loved you” in that situation but with romanced Gale breaks me even harder. But whether you kiss it or hug it, the only thing I feel is, I’m never letting Gale die again. I’m not letting ANYONE die again. Anyway, this was brilliant. Kudos to you and to Tim, wonderful everything, no notes 👌 I’m gonna go finish crying now

i spent the 3 extra dollars to send him a message first asking him if it was OK if i sent him a monologue type thing. and he said yes, go ahead, and that there was a place to submit an image. so i screenshotted my word doc and put it into a long image for him to read. i hope this helps!

Not sure i understand what this is about, but i feel it sounds too sad for Gale. That man went through so much in life, he deserves a really happy ending. I am a Mystra fan actually, but i like the 3rd Mystra better than this one. She didn't take almost everyone of her chosen asy her "lover" and then expected them to appease to her at all times *smirks* My happy ending was after listening to the character. He acatually doesn't want to be alone i think. Actually he wants to be loved. So I would be curious how Gale sounds after this ending. I asked myself what my character would do. She first of all talked himn out of becoming a suicide bomb. Then talked him out of becoming a god. I wasy baffled when Gale said after that, he loves her more than Mystra even. It seemed like she convinced him, that it's better to be with someone who is mortal and has the same mortal needs as him. At the end of the game that is the ending where he seems happiest and most content to me. Seing him completely discard the very idea is so satisfying :) He did not leave her at the docks. He made this adorable nerdy propsal. You can only pick, either you marry him or move to Waterdeep. But my character was a College of Lore bard, so a bit nerdy, just like our charming nerd. Naturally, she would say yes, to all of the above. Living admidst all those books with the man you love, that would be like paradise for her as long as he's also happy. Still she loved him than her own life, too. I would instead of writing something for the actor, see how he would have Gale be post the game with -my- happy ending. Still it is his character, but could be funny. Like two nerds having found each other ;)

it’s supposed to be sad. this is written with the intent of it being a bad ending. there is a point where the player character can tell him in the final boss fight to not choose the crown, and if you haven’t persuaded him not to take it he does, and leaves you in its pursuit. i’m glad your canon was happy! my friend’s was not, so i wrote this little icing on the cake for a bad ending gale. you’re free to write your own good ending and have tim read it if you like ^^

@@whimsicallly Yewah, but it hurts....i'm not drama buit but you did it nicely There is not just a point in the final fight wherfe you can tell him not to do so. The dialogue after meeting Elminaster gives you the chance. And talking him out of becoming a god, is something you can do inthe boat scene. In the end fight i didn't veen trigger the dialogue option withthe bomb. At some point youi arrive at the Stem of the Nether brain and he asks you, figures you're plotting something. But my character was just like "Oh nothing, i'm just gathering myself." :D After that i had another dialogue at the docks where he is thinking about what he couid do withthe crown. He's pretty absent minded, but he managed to snap him out of it. Saying that such power does not belong into mortal hands and he should return it to Mystra. He agreed happily, suggested a party and in the end dialogue they were alone. That's where he propose to her. Maybe that helps your friend to try again and see a way more lovely ending :)
