I'm a little sensitive to when white people do cross-cultural ministry and describe the people among whom they work in almost exclusively terms that would make you think that not one of them was a functioning adult. And this comes from my own experience of having worked cross-culturally for more than a decade in the 90s, seeing the people I worked with being thought of in the eyes of others as uniformly adorable, happy, hard-working, laughing, grateful, and full of endless good cheer it's an unconscious way of treating others as not full equals, and while I have zero doubt at all that Heidi Baker's motives are pure, however questionable her theology, I wish someone would come alongside her and explain this

Theres enough resources online and in the Bible itself to raise up plenty of Godly people without white people to dedicate their lives to a foreign land that will just draw criticism for their efforts, such as being called racist or offending with some sort of micro aggressions, who knows. I'm positive theres enough hurting and starving people within their own borders, they shouldn't bother them anymore. When my husband was dying of cancer, his dad took him to a church in Toronto where Baker was speaking. He wanted to be prayed for to be healed. She walked past him in the prayer line. Completely ignored him. He felt so rejected. Like God had rejected him. My father in law is a strong Christian, lifelong servant, smart man, but he is 100% in the NAR. Its such a sad moment for me to imagine the hurt she caused him that day. He is whole now, with the Lord.

@kathyd456 It's happened to me & didn't get bitter or let it isolate me from the body, I just took it to God in prayer & had someone else pray for me. I've also heard of this happening to other people; they were so anxious to get prayer from a minister with a big following, and then were crushed when that person walked past them in the prayer line. In one case, Holy Spirit told the person that they were to keep walking bc there was an undue emphasis on the minister, bc they were being idolized by the person. God might have wanted to move through someone else & not the "celebrity minister." Or God may have already healed the person so he told the minister "keep going." There could be many possible reasons as every situation & person is different. Remember even Jesus did not fulfill every request asked of him, and oftentimes not in the way ppl were anticipating. And the Word says some couldn't be prayed for or healed bc of their "lack of faith". And it's ALWAYS God's will to heal so that is a hard concept for us humans to accept.

In Revelation chapter seven and chapter five we also see tongues are languages from all the nations, kindreds and peoples. Plus In Acts 19 does not say they spoke gibberish that nobody understood. That would be pointless. They prophesied in real languages and I'm sure many understood the prophesies or else it's pointless. The Apostle Paul said he would rather speak five words that are understood than ten thousands that are not. Five words that are understood are more useful in church than ten thousand that are not. They heard them magnify God with tongues, so how did they know they were magnifying God? Because the tongues were languages. So clearly the tongues were understood languages Acts 10 46 For they heard them speak with tongues, and magnify God. Then answered Peter, Acts 2 8 And how hear we every man in our own tongue, wherein we were born?... 11 Cretes and Arabians, we do hear them speak in our tongues the wonderful works of God. 1 Corinthians 14 19 Yet in the church I had rather speak five words with my understanding, that by my voice I might teach others also, than ten thousand words in an unknown tongue.
