Location looks like Kolkata's state assembly "Writers' Building" area. Background of story is 1946 time's Direct Action Day observed by Muslim league in favor of partition of India. over 30000 Hindus were butchered by Muslim league's rioters in just 2 days in Kolkata, Dhaka, Noakhali areas. How? Because then the CM was Abdul H Suhravardi who had prepared for these riots (on order from Jinna) for 2 months. He changed all superior police officers in Bengal and posted "his men" there and purchased huge arms and distributed them to these officers asking them to form "fighters brigades" of his own "kaum". Jinna's objective was to make Nehru, Sardar Patel and Gandhi bow to his demands of partition of India etc. In August'46 all the fighters of CM entered in markets and residential areas of Hindu dominance and started loot, attacks and killings. There was no police to help and Hindu policemen were disarmed by their superiors. This killing spree went on for 3 days and stopped only when Nehru and Gandhi declared that they were agree to formation of Pakistan within one year. This whole chapter is covered in this movie for first time.
