The real story about this house is insane. CPS and the police are interviewed for a doc about the real house saying that the house was terrifying. The little boy actually went to the hospital at one point and the cps worker and nurse said he crawled up a wall.

And the ironic part is a priest performed an exorcism on the mother… I’m thinking the folks who owned the rights to the story said “you can use the story but without the exorcism” so Lee Daniels made it his business to push that it was NOT an exorcism lol.

Had to watch the movie before I watched your review...which is always so entertaining! Anyway spot on review, but I did enjoy this movie with all it's errors, I found the dynamics between Ebony and Alberta sooooo interesting. That really would have been a better movie, or at least more intriguing. Yes that hair weave/hair braid scene was a perfect and felt like Daniels was going to explore those peaks and valleys in the family. At the point where we get to the action and the Devil presents itself....climbing walls/talking with frog in his throat/changing form....it goes on and on...the devil actually killing the expert and the non believer finding faith....enough already.....anyway how in the world did they explain that dead Apostle in the basement? and Mo'Nique, her roll just seemed almost an anybody roll. However, knowing the past issues she and Daniels had, her appearance in the movie heals some of those wounds. Still this movie is watchable, could it have been better...probably....but this is the movie Daniels made, the end fade to black. When I told my boyfriend we were going to watch Deliverance, he said with Burt Reynolds? Which was more suspenseful. I had to keep telling him that the Mother is Glenn Close. Very funny! As always, thanks for the entertaining and insightful review.

I can’t believe Latoya allowed this movie to be made because a few years ago she didn’t even want Zak Bagan to come in their new home because he was doing a doc on her house and she was afraid it would attach back on them. Unless they were able to make this movie without her consent.
