The Demands of Discipleship - Dr. Charles Stanley - Called to be a Disciple - Part 1

What does it mean to be a disciple? A disciple is one who learns the doctrine of their teacher, then applies it to their own life. There are all kinds of teachers and doctrines to follow. But Christians are called to be different, to stand apart.
What does it mean to be a New Testament disciple? A New Testament disciple has a threefold definition:
They received Jesus Christ as Savior.
They yield their lives to Jesus Christ as Lord.
They are available for the Holy Spirit to reproduce the life of Christ through them into the life of someone else.
Dr. Stanley states that, for the most part, the church has lost a true understanding of discipleship. This has led to a world full of people who may believe in Jesus but do not sincerely follow Him, or understand how to walk with Him daily.
A disciple is one who is devoted to Jesus, detached from the world, disciplined, and dedicated to discipling others. If this type of discipleship is something that you desire in your own life, this message will lead you to a more vibrant and effective walk with the Lord.

You, Christians, believers, should be ashamed of yourself, but you have no shame, no standards. All you do is show believers to be illiterate, lacking discernment of the difference between fiction & nonfiction, Roman propaganda & parody. Jesus Christ comes not with peace, but sword, & everyone curses the other. He is alarmed at the gathering crowd, the only sign given is Jonah, a believer murdered by a greater number of believers. Jesus Christ promotes faith as worthless, since you can't expect movement from mountains with it: Nothing fails like prayers in a children's hospital. Is there a greater arrogance than expressing you have some sort of relationship with a deity? Question: How can you possibly take faith seriously? How can anyone in their right mind ask others to believe in the existence of a Deity who makes Mormons so Christians will know how Jews feel, having had their literature hijacked. Nothing fails like prayers in a children's hospital & indoctrinating children is criminal. The faith vocabulary causes the user to be avoided like the old woman with too many cats. Faith "comes not with peace, but sword." Faith comes with wolves dressed as sheep & preaching to the choir. Faith trades the last cow for a pocketful of magic beans & then expects everyone's appreciation. Jesus said, it is a wicked generations which seeks signs such as resurrection. Faith is as worthless as fantasyland magic, since you can't tell mountains to move. The "only sign given" in reality "is Jonah": A believer murdered by other believers because he is outnumbered. The context is Jesus seeing a gathering crowd. It is up to us, to reject religious nonsense. Believers continuously avoid the issue; believers commit the crime of indoctrinating children with a fantasyland vocabulary. Even Jesus Christ said faith was worthless, since you can't move mountains by voice command, expecting movement. Yours is a fantasyland, with fantasyland, prophecy, & resurrection. You don't get respect outside your camp of fellow believers. You can't handle any condemnation of your views, so you eliminate the comments you don't like. It is astounding, how the Christ fantasy ignores Jesus saying, "This is a wicked generation seeking signs, the only sign given is Jonah," a believer murdered by a larger number of believers. The King of the Jews is mounted on a stick, because Romans made a parody of the avatar, the icon. "Christ hath redeemed us from the curse of the law, being made a curse for us: for it is written, cursed is everyone that hangeth on a tree:" Galatians 3:13 We should all indoctrinate children with nonsense like prayer: Nothing fails like prayer in a children's hospital. You trade your last cow for a handful of magic beans & pretend you should be respected for it. We are made illiterate servants of Caesar, "My sheep hear My voice" is the mindset of slavery & Jesus comes "not with peace, but sword", turning everyone to curse the other. The Romans defeated the Jews in war. What Jesus are you talking about? The one doing signs in every chapter or the one rebuking those seeking signs? "The only sign is Jonah:" a believer murdered by other believers because he was outnumbered. I've begun teaching this in a class at my church. It was a Charles Stanley message on In Touch in 2010 that I believe led to my salvation during the darkest time of my life. The demands of discipleship Without discipleship the church can be in a disaster what's a disciple? It's a person who listen the doctrine of the teacher and make an application of it and whose life is continually growing We reproduce Jesus's life through us and we can make it happen on someone's else life too, in that way the church can grow We need to have the doctrine of obedience to God How to do it ✓ Share our faith ✓ Instruct them to be the same, they need to grow like us THE CHANCE IS IN THE OBEDIENCE OF GOD'S WORD The Doctrine enemy ✓ We are so much time in the church but there is not a change in us The discipleship imply: ✓ Obedience ✓ A detached life ✓ Discipline ✓ Dedication to disciple others: when we are ready we are gonna be able to teach others about him and reproduce in other's the life of Christ

Call on JESUS to save you. Admit you have done wrong. Get rid of those things that you know are wrong. Cleanse the house and your life. Repent of those things. Jesus request you sin no more, he forgives you. Begin a new life. It is hard. But read the bible and see how the kings of Israel that were good had to cleanse Israel and Jordan of sin. The kings that decided to follow God had to cleanse the land. They burned the idols that people made and the places they housed the idols. They destroyed those things that GoD had said do not do and they did anyway. Sin eeked up on the people and the country. The first step is with yourself. Turn your back on Sin, Call on JESUS to save you, Pray to God. Focus on God and JESUS. This is your answer. STOP doing the bad things and being with the bad people. Jesus forgave the woman and told her to go and sin no more. Said that to men he healed also.

Stanley missed the point of discipleship. The reason for it is the more abundant life. We don’t commit our lives and sustain that commitment in anything unless we know we will yield amazing benefits from it. Stanley does not speak of any benefits. He only guilts people by using terms like ‘obedience’ and ‘commandment’. We only become disciples because we are drawn to the amazing life that is available to us as a result (i.e. peace, satisfaction, contentment, joy, understanding, wisdom, knowledge, fruit). “I am come that they might have life and that they might have it more abundantly” John 10:10 Jesus the Christ

The Lord loves you, and if you cry out to him he is faithful and quick to answer. As this message teaches, I have been a disciple of Jesus one on one, it took me awhile but I love it. But it has been rough getting there. Many nights in tears due to my double mindedness I asked him to change my desires and started reading and studying his word for myself. I am his disciple and so are you. Please read counsel to Christians by George muller & do daily discipleship with Chip Ingram (who has a team whom can help talk to you and help). Two Godly men one past and the other present whom has helped me so much in my journey and hope can also pour into your life. Meditate on this verse: ponder and allows its truth to seek in as you walk with our dear Lord Jesus. And the Lord will deliver me from every evil work and preserve me for His heavenly kingdom. Read the bible and pray to God and JESUS. God will give you a way out. Just look for it. It may be a window and not a door. Keeep praying and looking. IT might look like a wagon and not a luxury car. IT may have a form of hard work. God will show you. Just keep praying and talk to those people about GOD and quote Gods words from the bible. Gods words are the armour of God. They have special power.
