Hi! Please check your textbook! I am referring to Arihant All in One textbook- page no.7,"The Theory of Demographic Transition". Here, under (i) it is mentioned GROWTH RATES ARE LOW AS BIRTH RATE AND DEATH RATE ARE HIGH. Similary, in (ii) it is mentioned VERY HIGH RATES OF POP.GROWTH. I think you confused birth rate with growth rate.Under stage 1, population growth rate is low as society is underdeveloped and technologically backward. Hope this helps! Cheers x
