I made this song with my sister. She originally requested my help to create a beat together that she could add lyrics to and she gave some inspiration for the type song she wanted.
It was a specific kind of Lo-fi and I hadn’t really dabbled in the genre yet so I gave it my best but was unsuccessful in providing a finished product that evoked the feeling she was looking for.
Communication can be tricky when trying to realise somebody else’s creative vision, so the more they can do themselves, the better of an idea you can get about their creative intention.
I still think this song turned out wonderfully great though! The guitar was a mild struggle to sync with the music but that was really the only issue I ran into production-wise.
I REALLY love the part of the song after the first rock section where the synthy/electronic sound comes in.
Fun fact: That’s actually my voice singing the notes put through a synthesiser. Using your voice in music can be such a great tool in terms of the technical possibilities and for efficiency.
People should incorporate voices as “instruments” more often rather than just a device to sing the lyrics.
I take heavy inspiration of the OST of the video-game “Crash Twinsanity” which had a soundtrack entirely comprised of modulated Acapella.
Nothing was used other than their voices and technical modifications of their voices to create the banger soundtrack!
I believe there is a certain amount of objectivity to good music but it is entirely dependant on the intention of the song.
It’s easy for people to hate on something for being different or creative because they believe objectively good music is JUST the status quo. This is not the case.
It’s the effort, passion, technique, skill, artistry and emotional evocation within the audience that defines a musical piece’s value.
Nobody can truly define the objective worth of a piece of music because it’s worth different amounts to different people.
You’re only expressing your own opinion when sharing a negative outlook on somebody else’s art. Not stating full truth.
