This is exactly the same way I do my reverbs, but with one more ROOM space that is all late reflections. I learned my technique from Jake on Musician on a Mission from their reverb course. This method is very similar to Jake’s.

where should chords be place in a mix-depth matrix?

depends on your mix. The rule of thumb is 1-3 items in the front - 1-3 items in the back, and most everything in the middle. Just by default - I would usually say "the middle".
