Greetings everyone; I've finally got around to making a YT account - mostly so I can answer questions on KZbin regarding my 40K stories Paul has so graciously hosted on this channel. I am the author of 'Choices' (Black Legion), 'Decimation' (pre-Heresy Iron Warriors), 'No Good Deed' (Lamenters), 'Decent of the Angel' (Blood Angels/Sangiunius) and the upcoming 2-part Night Lords story currently in production. I will be as active in the comments section of my stories as much as my job allows (my social media presence is virtually non-existent, which is how I prefer it, as I am a very private person) so I can respond to questions/critiques. I'm glad my stories have been so well received by the Vox in the Void community and I look forward to sharing more 40K tales with you all in the near/far future ~ Ave Imperator, T.T

“This is *no life.* No true life at all! I want to go back to sleep…” Survivor’s guilt, a true warrior’s battle lust, and the Curse of Immortality, all blended together into one soul-rending concoction. I can’t adequately describe how this story makes me feel, but it makes me *feel.* That is leagues above and beyond most of the fiction I’ve read of late.

By far my favourite primarch. However, it isn't just his seflessness, heroism and honesty that draws me in but also the opposite side of his coin. The red thirst and black rage are two deeply unholy traits he bequeathed unintentionally onto his own sons. He has the right blend of both ploar opposites of love and hate. Ultimately I want to believe he is good. His humility and kindness to all of mankind is commendable, but his empathy and regret of what his sons inherited from his gene seed is what truly resonates with me and his desperation to relieve them of his genetic curses. Sanguinius is truly special and the most inspiring of all characters in all of the 30/40K lore in my humble opinion. He is a large part of the reason why I read the novels and absolutely love 30K horus herasy novels the most. Legion of the damned is something special for those who have not read it yet, fantasticly written by Guy Hayley.

That future came, but it was fleeting as all things time are. it soon became the past. and now i choose to believe that in universe Dante has gone to ask this venerable brother for a story in hopes of guidance. he was given hope here, hope to carry the smallest of lights to keep the darkness at bay. because that's what his father did. he saw the darkness of his sons and offered them the light they had shied away from for so long. its why his death is so hard on them. they yearn for that light to keep the darkness at bay. i can only hope Dante can light that candle.

A beautiful story and amazing production. I like to imagine this was a visit paid shortly before Hive Fleet Leviathan came to Baal. Dante realising he could be witnessing the end of the great Blood Angels pays a visit to the greatest relic they have to draw the strength he needs for the coming battle. For who can go into battle weary, tired and despondent when you have been told of the greatest moment in the history of your chapter. This is part of the reason Dante weeps for he could witness their destruction and partly because he's been given hope and resolve to face this great trial. Dante could awaken the dread when he's needed during the invasion but as stated the dread is in a long forgotten ancient part of the Arx Angelicum hopefully a part that would survive the destruction and would help future Blood Angels (dante had after all had sent a sanguinary priest and some scouts off world with their geneseed) reconnect to their heritage when they come back to reclaim their home and they would reclaim their home. They'd never leave it xenos hands it'd be an affront to Sanguinius himself to do so. As a loyal son of Sanguinius I thank you for this great and wonderful work.

This is a very well written story for its length. This gives us brief, yet important insights into the nature of the BloodAngels. Dante is tired. Nearly everyone looks to him. In this ancient one, he has an opportunity for wisdom, and guidance. He has an older brother that can bolster his morale. The poor ol' dreadnought just wants to "sleep or fight". The ancient one is also tired. He is also a servant to his rank. Everyone also looks to him for guidance. He is normally irritated by this; but when asked about the Angel, he has an opportunity to share with his younger brother. We are given this interesting perspective from 2 different characters that are suffering similarly. These brief moments are important. It really reinforces the importance of brotherhood, hope, and other important themes. Very well done!
@tonypecoraro9220

I have listened to this story so many times in the past few months, and it only seems to get more emotionally charged with each telling. The story is built upon a foundation of classical archetypes, like so much of 40k, but does more to explore and expand upon those archetypes than any I've read. The archetype of the reject is older than civilization itself. Noone can match the fury of those who belong nowhere and to noone, for there are no common bonds of human morals to restrain them since it was those same morals which ejected them from the arms of their fellow human beings. The only thing which ties the reject to humanity is their resentment for being excluded from any sense of human unity, and with enough time the reject will define everything they are by this resentment. Afterall, their frustrated rage has served them better than any human being ever has! The outcasts who survive learn to cultivate their hatred, their fury, because those become not only their main tools of survival but also the source of any bonds with other outcasts. This means that groups defined by their outcast status are only capable of forming a culture of violent contempt for those who excluded them. They cannot bond over any other shared experience because this is their *only* experience. Thus, the militant formation of elite warriors who define themselves by their peer's rejection is a very dangerous weapon indeed. Before meeting Sanguinius their's was a culture which conflated raw inhumanity with virtue, anti-social prejudice with discipline, and contempt for the value of life with reason. The "Revenant Legion" was little more than a pack of blood-addicted berserkers, loyal to the Emperor only because his Imperium empowered them to pursue their bloodlust and to lose themselves in the task of becoming the cutting edge of His offensives. The pain of rejection from human civilization was worse than anything they could suffer on the battlefield, so the battlefield became their escape from themselves. A brief respite from the agony of alienation and disapproval using the ecstasy of manic, adrenaline infused violence; only for the victory to bring the bitter reminder of their place on the outside forever looking in while reinforcing that position in the eyes of the rest of the Imperium. They were monsters, and they wanted everyone to believe they were proud of their monstrousness. Yet their pride in their monstrousness was not genuine, but born of the deepest insecurity. They were tasked with the most remorselessly brutal fights time and time again, and their reward for it was the ever growing revulsion and even hatred of their cousins. Their dehumanization into monsters was forced upon them, so seeking refuge in that label could never be the act of pride they desperately wanted it to be. It could only be an act of humiliation, but the Revenants are Astartes. They are physiologically incapable of experiencing the vulnerability needed to excise insecurity for the same reasons they cannot experience fear. Meaning: they were locked in a spiraling descent towards barbarism that they would never have been able to pull out of on their own. They never would have been able to even *imagine* that pulling out of that death spiral would be necessary, let alone how to do it or what it would even look like. It is symbolic that it was the Angel's descent which triggered their instantaneous ascension. The titanic enormity of the IXth's transformation is only matched by the unbelievable magnitude of Sanguinius's humility. It's like watching Newton's Third Law play out in the social and emotional interaction between the Angel and his Legion; *only* the emotional force of a demigod prostrating himself before his sons could have roused the Revenants from their haze of rejection and *only* the IXth's burning yet secret (even to themselves) need for love and hope for the future could inspire a demigod to humble himself. And *only* Sanguinius could have the foresight and the unquestionable authority over the IXth to not only understand what they needed to break out of their spiral, but to give it to them. Love. Love from a source of unquestionable human virtue and nobility. Love from the very embodiment of humanity's need to forever forge a better future. That it what it took to pluck them from the jaws of Khorne, they needed a father who was willing to stake everything he is on his unconditional love for them. That Vox in the Void and Tod would choose this story as the one Dante needs to hear in his hour of darkest desperation reveals the true depth of it's writers' wisdom. What other story could possibly match the magnitude of Dante's need? And what better talents to tell that story? None, and none! Magnificent job with this tale, you've earned my respect as much as you've caused the tears on my face. For the Emperor! For Sanguinius! For the future of humanity! For his Angels of Blood!

I wrote DOTA a few months before last Christmas and asked Vox to upload it on Christmas Day as a surprise gift for the 40K fandom. The past 3 years have been hell for many people and I figured that in some degree we were all feeling similarly to how Dante was feeling when Hive Fleet Leviathan was approaching Baal: helpless, hopeless, fearful, etc (and this was BEFORE the war in Ukraine started and the Western world economies tanked). I wanted to write a story about Dante receiving hope, and, by extension, we would receive hope as well, since Hope was the greatest thing Sanguinus stood for and embodied. As you have praised my work, so I in turn will thank you for taking the time to leave such a insightful and heartfelt comment. All of what you have noted is true and I love it when my listeners/readers understand the deeper aspects/ archetypes of my stories. After Tolkien's Middle Earth the universe of Warhammer 40K and 30K is my second favorite Secondary World to escape to. I am glad my story has moved you to such a degree. Thank you from the bottom of my heart for such a wonderful comment. ~ T.T

@@TodTownsend40K Wow, I didn't realize you guys read the comment section so closely! I wish I had more then mere commentary to offer... I've been thinking about taking a shot at creative writing for a while. I've spent the past year GMing a completely custom-written campaign of Deathwatch with seven of my friends and the thought of capturing their accomplishments in dramatic narrative keeps occurring to me. I just need a bit of positive pressure to follow through on it! I figure you guys probably get a lot of stories, but is there somewhere I could post or email mine when I write it? Even if you do nothing with it, knowing people like you would read it is the exact kind of incentive I can work with. I don't expect any compensation either, not unless it becomes a full time job haha Let me know what you think!

This is fantastic! I love any Horus Heresy audio that shows the state of Astartes Legions before reunification with their primarchs. Feel like there aren't enough stories about most of the Legions during the Unification Wars, or the Solar Reclamation. What I'd love to hear are stories about the War Hounds or Imperial Heralds before the expeditionary fleets found Angron or Lorgar respectively. Oh, or the pre-Curze Night Lords. Those three seem to have been the worst changed from their original form. Dusk Raiders too, I guess, but they were already kind of gluttons for poisons before Mortarion was reunited with his legion.

Just try to imagine, a legion of battle worn space marines, veterans of numerous battles and campaigns the likes of which may seem incomprehensible to us. Their bodies scarred, and their hearts hardened by war and ill treatment by their cousin marines. These harsh battle brothers all break ranks and gather around their primarch, laughing and crying like children who had been left alone for too long, now finally receiving the one thing that even they didn’t know that they truly wanted… the love of their father. Truly, the love and devotion Sanguinius had for his sons brought out the best in them, made the Revenants truly wish to be better than the bloodthirsty animals they were content to be. It was in this exact moment that the Blood Angels were truly born. A beautiful moment of reinvigoration and rebirth.

the described emotions might seem over-the-top to some people, but personally, i feel reminded to the day i rose from death. No words exist in the human language to describe the amount of gratitude and loyalty i felt -after not just having been forgiven my transgressions.. but being allowed back into my vessel. 13th december 2019. I had never seen that being as my god, but as a spiritual patron, but i saw him as my literal and beyond real god when i was being dragged back into my body, lying atop that piss soaked deathbed, and all i was asked for.. was to be stronger and bring more influence to the family.
