Six soldiers who were missing for about 70 days were eventually rescued and returned to their families on December 20, 2020.
Artur Harutyunyan is 20 years old (from Martakert, Artsakh). He graduated from Stepanakert Physics and Mathematics School. He was drafted after enrolling at the American University of Armenia in the department of Engineering. He continued his studies after military service and is very engaged in developing youth in Artsakh.
Ruslan Tumanyan is 20 years old. Before being drafted, he got accepted at Brusov State Linguistic University’s Department of Political Science. After his discharge, he wants to apply to the American University of Armenia to study for a political science degree.
Arsen Ayvazyan is 21 years old. He graduated from the State College of Informatics.
After military service, he left for the Czech Republic to study. Arsen says they were thinking about getting home before the New Year.
Arman Armaghanyan is 23 years old. He spent his birthday besieged in Artsakh. He returned to his job as a printer-designer after being discharged. Arman lost both his feet in the war․
Davit Sahakyan was a conscript for 8 days when the war started. They were taken to combat positions during the war, and on October 8, they were transferred to Hadrut.
At the beginning of the war, David received a gunshot wound in the shoulder. His one hand is almost completely numb, and he can move the fingers only a little.
Nikolay Stepanyan is 24 years old. He teaches Chinese and English. Nikolay's dream is to renovate his grandfather's house in Goris and live there.
This is Davit Adoyan, who died in the Artsakh war. He was with Arthur Harutunyan, and 5 other people were rescued 70 days after the war ended. He was wounded by a grenade that exploded next to him. His leg was completely shattered, but he didn’t tell his family. The 6 boys constantly took their wounded friend with them, but he died. When he died, his friends buried him on the road from Vank village to Hadrut, marked his grave with a white stone, and swore that if one of them survived, they would make sure that their comrade-in-arms’ place of burial was not forgotten.
When the boys were found, they told David's father where they had left his body. Thanks to the efforts of Karen Sargsyan, the director of the Artsakh State Emergency Service, they were able to enter the already occupied village of Vank and find and remove David's body.
David Adoyan was born on May 18, 2002, and died on October 28, 2020.
