Back in the 80s I would wash with dishsoap and i was very proud of that sqeeky clean finish. Little did I know I had just taken all the wax off.

I think one of the biggest mistakes one can make, and I have to admit I’ve done it before as well, is thinking you can use a quick Detailer on a non-washed car. Lots of manufacturers claim you can do it on slightly dirty cars but rest assured you’ll get yourself scratches. There is really no way around washing your whole car first. Other mistakes for consideration: - Using wrong microfiber towels -> instant scratches especially with dry ones - Letting the car dry in the sun -> rather do one half of the car, dry it, and then wash the rest to prevent water spotting - Using one bucket for the whole car / cross contamination -> use at least two bucket method, better three ones with one dedicated to your wheels - Using too much pressure with wash mitts and Microfibres -> avoid scratches by working gently on your paint

Washing a car is a skill that you really have to master to achieve the best results. It might sound funny but that’s really the case if you think of it. Combine good high-quality detailing products and tools with washing experience and good wash techniques and you have the perfect recipe 👍🏼👍🏼 Cheers from Finland! Big fan :)

I always wash in the morning or later in the evening,to not have a hot surface (black car).I usually rinse the whole thing bottom to top,then apply Iron on alloys and foam all over the car.At the time foam dwells ,brush and APC on the tires and rims,then rinse again.After that I use a 1 bucket 2 mitt with shampoo,rinsing once and on the second time Wet coat (twice a month) and Silk dryer for perfect finish.Once a month Gyeon Preserve on the plastic trims outside.The car is small (MIni Clubman) and can be worked out very fast.Is a city car and is washed every week(sometimes twice) to not have too much dirt on it.Great tips!Much appreciated your videos.

I knew all of the things, however the tip for waiting to wash the car after a drive to the washboxes wasnt something I did. Learned something new ❤

thanks for the tips. one of the worst errors i've made, leaving a bug splattered car back from holiday for 3 days before washing (car sits outside 24x7), took forever to remove and scratched the paint nicely with a bug sponge 🦟. Also tried to do a quick maintenance wash a few years ago, in a hot summer's day and apply Wetcoat to the car -- black Focus ST.....never do it in full sun, you'll never be fast enough before it dries!! 🤬

Hey! Not washing your car in direct sunlight or on a hot day is a pretty common tip. How about when the weather cools down? Here in Northern Finland we have many weeks during spring/fall when the weather stays somewhere between 0-10 degrees celcius and many months constant freezing temperatures during winter. Is there a minimum temperature when washing your car outside apart from the obvious "below 0 degrees celcius" when water freezes? Mainly using Geyon washing and maintenance products :) Thanks for the great content and products! Love them.

Well, it’s better to wash in cold weather then in hot. One thing I always would advise: use warm water and maybe in your case even warmer, wear gloves and change waterbucket when getting cold. Regards, Y.

@@GYEON_official thanks alot! :) So there's no downside chemical-wise when the temperature drops to for example +5 degrees c? Awesome! Cant wait for the new products. Have a great day sir!

Great video, Yves! Worst mistake I made in detailing was actually this week (I've only been into detailing for a few months now). We got back home from vacation and my wife's car was absolutely filthy. Didn't have time for a full detail, so I took it down to our local "pay and spray" to get it semi-clean. It was still a bit wet when I got it home, so I decided to use some detail spray as a drying aid to dry the car and prevent water spots. Problem was, there was still a thin layer of dirt in spots on car. I noticed it, and I knew better, but I kept going anyway. You can imagine how this went... 😞

Bom dia, Yves.

Great tips Yves, I now use my silicon blade purely to remove excess water from the windscreen and windows to avoid water spots.
@GYEON_official4 жыл бұрын
Just watch out that your windows are then free of any form of sand, when these particles get between the blade and the window you will scratch your glass. If clean, good solution. ✌🏻 Regards, Y.

Buongiorno, Yves. Thank you so much for sharing your knowledge. How about rinsing with pressure a dirty car, before pre wash/wash? I see so many people do it... Even after pre wash I am so sceptical rinsing with pressure!
@SparkleanAutos4 жыл бұрын
Harmless AFTER but I prefer to coat the car with pre-wash/snow-foam BEFORE rinsing... i.e. apply it to a dry car... If the car is heavily soiled, use a more concentrated TFR or strong APC (like Bilt Hamber Surfex HD) on the heavily soiled parts and blanket with foam. Using your pressure washer to remove this is harmless, unless your running an industrial pressure washer and holding the lance 2 inches from the bodywork!
@GYEON_official4 жыл бұрын
When you don’t use crazy industrial pressure and keep a safe distance, this is harmless. When your car is not “muddy dirty” I prefer to have my FOAM on a dry car and let it do it’s work. It’s not only about REMOVING dirt but also about “weakening” it to have a safer (less friction needed) removal. If you have a dirty car and you have the time: FOAM on dry car - Rinse - FOAM again - Rinse and start washing... Regards, Y.

Fully agree! Try GYEON bug and grime or the new APC in your preferred dilution, I think you will like it. ✌🏻 Regards, Y.

Worst mistake I made (in a time I knew nothing about carcleaning) : My gf’s father once told me old waxes are often better then newer ones (sure..). And “when it’s hot outside, wax will melt and seal in a better way.” One day, cleaning up the garage, I found a very old (!!) container of wax 🙊🙊🙊 So me, being naïve and stupid, I estimated my Magic Black Seat Leon 2006 was fairly clean (🙈🤪) and started to wax it in the heating sun using the complete conrainer, .. more is more, right? 🤡 so thinking about the great advice I let it sit an dry a couple of hours in the sun (Summerhot!) I even dit the trims 😱😱. Fastly the car turned white from the dried up, way to thick, layer of wax. Imagine my surprise when I tried to remove it.. 😳🤯🥵😭 I rubbed it of with a dry towel 🙃🙃 scratching the paint all over, not knowing or understanding what went wrong. impossible to remove the wax from the pores of the trim. It took me 10years to get over my fears of wax 🤣🤣. A couple of sessions (demodays) with Yves at Wax-it belgium openned my eyes and made me the detailing non-professional skilled weekend warrior I am today 💙! Thanks Yves and thanks Gyeon, you changed my live and helped me find my passion in live and go-to escape for these difficult times.
