I think the Beowulf type weapons are more iconic because 4/5 of the games he has that weapon (only in DMC 2 he doesn't) Ifrit > Beowulf > Gilgamesh > Balrog are ALL very good weapons. Meanwhile, Cerberus is only present in both 3 and 5 - which is still pretty good but even in 3, I wouldn't say Cerberus was the most iconic one (I'd give that to Agni and Rudra).
