Yeah, you're right there; and one really vital reason why that is is that it *appears* to be a sanctuary where men like that can serve their neighbors- but that Heaven rapidly turns into Hell when it is improperly maintained; the other option, the humble one, is an indulgence in the *worst* kind of things imaginable to them: that of mass-murder; at least such a high-powered job is a means to escape *into* serving one's neighbor! The only other option; the one that embraces the lively virtue of humility, really does produce a much worse Hell, not Heaven at all, especially not for *those* kinds of men! Do not obey the official narrative of God's agents if you develop that personality trait, no matter what: nothing good ensues; simply put: the high-powered job is far the safer. But it very strongly does sound like that mobster seraphim does like to play with men like that, and NOT to our benefit!

This happens because Christians believe Yeshua came for their sins, and the concept is more complicated than it. Yeshua came to be light for the nations. His blood cover the sin for those who keep and try to keep the commandments, not for people who believe in religion. After all, the Romans killed him and bought the Sanhedrin of Jews to corrupt the temple. So They created a religion with paganism, using his image. Do you know, for example, the image of Pilate being a good man is created by Rome? He wasn't a good person, but They used Yeshua's image to paint a new Pilate in order to increase the antisemitism and erase Yeshua's Jewish identity. When you understand that, you will see why Yeshua came.

I’ve become a believer by living the Word. In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God. We live in a narrative world. If you’re reading this and not sure if the Bible is True, try to live it and you will see reality change around you because this text is divinely inspired by a real God (as real as the phone or computer you’re reading this on). Read the Psalms every morning. Psalm 23 for guidance and overcoming fear. Psalm 91 for God’s shielding protection from evil. Pray to God and He will answer. He’s a Father who’d like to see His children choose (free will) to love. Our Father in Heaven is just and loving. Call to Him. He will answer; He always does.

Your description here taps into the true essence of what a testimony of Jesus is, I believe. Rather than bombarding people with propositions, which can be countered with other arguments, no one can argue with what you have personally witnessed and can now testify to, much like in a court room testimony. If you've studied Islam, Muslims should keep jihad, and all of its interpretations, whether it be struggle within oneself, or struggle to fight the non-believers. Muslim falls to Islamic terrorism in pursuit of jihad. Christianity does not. The argument you could make about Christianity is the crusades. But the purpose of the crusades was to take back the Holy Land from the Muslims that were killing everyone in their wake and pursuit of jihad. But the reason why the atrocities of the crusades we're unjustified, (not the crusades themselves mind you) was because God never told his people, his chosen people to commit the atrocities that they did. They sought to take back the Holy Land, and they did it in such a way, that was not what God intended. Which is why they failed. Respectfully, at the core, you misinterpreted what he meant by getting ready to be with God.

The victorian scottish preacher George Macdonald has a very good sermon on this topic. He interpreted it as a rejection of utopian politics, that the sin and evil and the human condition could have a purely political solution. It's the same reason he didn't do what the jews wanted and become the conquering political messiah they all expected. This connects back to the rich man's "what good things shall I do that I may have eternal life" this highlights the difference between Christianity and Judaism. Judaism has a utopian tendency where if we could just implement the right laws and get the right people in charge we could do away with all evil. But Christianity demands purity of heart, not just right action. Christianity demands not just that we treat others well but that we do it out of genuine loving care for them. That's why freedom of religion came about in Christian society, the law can only make people do good things. It can't make them be good people.

I dearly love George McDonald. As an adult I've read his sermons but as a child I had several of his individual stories as well as an incredible anthology. He had such a profound influence on me and the way I viewed responsibility, real love, courage, and beauty. Plus his storytelling was mesmerizing. I read the Chronicles of Narnia around the same time,.which also was foundational. When I got into college I was reading Chesterton, and CS Lewis' space trilogy, and then the Great Divorce by CS Lewis. Imagine my utter surprise when George McDonald was the main character's guide into the reality of Heaven. It sent me straight back to my anthology to reread it all again, only to find that CS Lewis had written the foreword of that particular edition. My younger and adult lives ran into each other.

Petersons teachings have brought more people to Christ than any modern preacher, and changed more lives in deeply profound ways. Including my own. I listened to one of his teachings about 8 years ago where he talked about telling the truth no matter the consequence. That single idea has completely changed my life, and I now know it to also be the central idea of Christ as the Truth and the Way and the Life. Peterson is led by the spirit and created by God for our time, even if he won’t claim it of himself.

Peterson understands the gravity of a statement like John 3:16. From what I understand, he probably is more of a believer than people give him credit for. Remember James 2:19 You believe that there is one God. Good! Even the demons believe that-and shudder. To claim belief but have no fruits (actions that prove the belief) is not a proper belief and there are countless Christians of this sort. Peterson's point is the same. He knows what someone means by "believe" is probably not the same way he uses that word and so is loathe to make such a statement. He probably doesn't want to be likenened to fruitless believers. He says that he acts as if God exists. That is basically a faith with works to show for it.

He also has stated that he doesn’t take complete responsibility for his faith and that it is a private matter to him. I think he is too humble to be boastful. Also, our beloved Paul teaches of a 5fold ministry. Only one of which is evangelism. Some servants are called to be teachers and shepherds. I feel that is more the role that JP has taken on for the risen Lord and hyper real Father. God bless JP!!

I don't know if anyone has answered this (or if they even touch on it again at some point in the seminar), but the interesting thing about the Devil being the Father of Lies, is that he does in some sense tell 99% truth with 1% lie. He makes the lie pallatable enough so that you're able to grasp it, and in 3:19 when they talk about if satan was actually lying, he was doing the same thing he's always done! His lie only goes so far as to make it tempting enough to those that might be listening. The question also posed is if Satan could have given the dominion of earth to Jesus. And in some sense, yeah he could! But that wouldn't render satan defeated, and christ knows that's his ultimate mission. Going all the way back to Genesis, when God created Adam, he said in Genesis 1:28, "Subdue the earth," which establishes dominion over the earth to Adam. And that was the primary reason for Satan to want to get Adam to sin against God, and why sin entered the picture at all! The curses and distruction entered into the world becuase there was a transferrance of dominion from Adam to the serpent/satan. And we see that played out throughout the entire biblical narrative and even in today's society, where the bad is ever more prevalent as the good. So yes, Satan did have dominion over the earth, but the lie was that Christ was going to rule over the earth if he accepted it--mainly because it's like would Satan really give up the power that he had? Really? Of all people who would want to give up the power that they legally gained, Satan? Fat chance! Not to mention, Christ's aim wasn't just for earth anymore, the earth is already done and gone, in his eyes! In his infinite wisdom and knowledge, he knows that after the death and after the ressurection, there was going to be a new heavean and a new earth at some point in now our future. That's why in his Prayer he says, "Your Kingdom come, you will be done on earth as it is in heaven" and later in Revelation, we come to a point where heaven meets earth, much like the tabernacle. Jesus, and even now we since we are mini-christs, are very much depictions of that tabernacle: heaven meeting earth. But the process finishes in revelation, and heaven and earth become one! That's what Jesus knew. I can almost personally see Jesus internally laughing knowing the ultimate future at the end of time when heaven and earth finally meet and he's thinking about that while hearing Satan who didn't know that was about to be defeated nor that heaven and earth was going to be joined. So much so that Christ has to hold himself to the words in the old testament because Satan knew them better than anyone else except Jesus, almost to keep himself from spoiling the end of what was about to happen from that moment forward

Agreed! And satan demonstrates this also by quoting Scripture to Jesus in the temptation, but perverting Gods intention of that passage. Just like he perverted God's Word in The Garden. The 'trick' of truth mixed with lie, evil spirits still do that today. With daily life temptations "remember when your spouse did THAT? They dont respect you. Theyre going to keep doing that. You're never going to be happy in this marriage. You deserve better...". And with bigger temptations like Scripture mixed with "new revelations" (that actually go against Scripture) to draw people into cults. I know a lady that went to 'prayer meetings' at a woman's house, they prayed to "our god" at first then in time wording focused more and more on the earth. Then eventually the true name of the god they were praying to was revealed, and it was Gaia. But they used Christian- sounding language at first. God repeatedly Warns against mixture. We must know The Word in order to test every spirit. And test every spirit we must. Demons disguising themselves as angels of light. False gospels. False teachers. False prophets. False signs and wonders. The Word written on our hearts is a sharp tool of discernment. Along with The Holy Spirit and prayer.

In response to his question as to whether Lucifer really had the authority to give it away to Jesus, here is how I have heard that it works: Authority upon this earth was given entirely to mankind (Adam and Eve) in the garden. It is a new and unique providence for the new and unique creation of mankind. Once Adam fell through the temptation, Lucifer then came into an authoritative position in regards to this earthly realm. In order for God to remain just and still defeat Lucifer, he does everything here on this earth through mankind. That is why Jesus had to come as a man into this world. He was able to fulfill all of the requirements necessary in order to restore proper authority to those in mankind who will believe in him and walk with him. He has the power to do what he wants, but then he would no longer be a completely just ruler. His wisdom to pull this off with so many human free wills and variables at play is a beautiful thing.

The thing I don’t enjoy about these daily wire documentaries is that they don’t adamantly preach the gospel. It’s all just human philosophy shoehorned into God’s word. Having seen and listened to many such videos of Jordan Peterson talking about the Bible, i can say it's a simple matter of flesh vs Spirit. Peterson is concerned with the world and things of the world. We can look to Paul's words (who lived according to the Spirit to an amazing degree) for a contrast: "And I, when I came to you, brothers, did not come proclaiming to you the testimony of God with lofty speech or wisdom. For I decided to know nothing among you except Jesus Christ and him crucified. And I was with you in weakness and in fear and much trembling, and my speech and my message were not in plausible words of wisdom, but in demonstration of the Spirit and of power, so that your faith might not rest in the wisdom of men but in the power of God." "For to set the mind on the flesh is death, but to set the mind on the Spirit is life and peace. I think he is closer than most people think, on his podcast with Alex O'Connor when asked "if there was a camera in front of the tomb on the third day, would it show Jesus walking out" JP said "Probably" this is a statement of faith the resurrection miracle. Honestly I wonder if part of the reason he is so hesitant to acknowledge this, is to avoid the "many christian denominations" problem or he fears for his academic credibility if he openly acknowledges miracles

The 3 temptations of Jesus are also the same 3 temptations of Adam & Eve in the Garden of Eden; the lust of the flesh, the lust of the eyes, and pride of life (1 John 2:16). The difference is where the first Adam failed, Jesus the second Adam succeeded (1 COR 15:45-49) by not being wise in his own eyes but by quoting Scripture or the Word of God. So the key to overcoming temptation and being healed is by studying and knowing the Word of God so one can apply when a temptation occurs.

Do they ever talk about the Gospel call to repent and believe on Christ for salvation and our utter inability to save ourselves? Do they ever talk about the very real sacrifice Christ made on our behalf or the very real hope that His resurrection gives us for eternal life with Him? No? Then this series isn’t about the Gospel. It’s about how to reinterpret the story to help you live your best life now. It’s a clever prosperity gospel so wrapped in intellectualism that people miss the entire point.

All of that is implicit. There is a Catholic bishop there, who knows all of these things and more... and the Catholic Church has the only authentic interpretation of scripture and is why you can even read the gospel accounts, having produced the canon and the Holy Bible itself. I don't see how this is the "prosperity gospel", which usually is applied to megachurch pastors like Joel Osteen, televangelists , and modern American evangelical protestants, which is the opposite of "intellectualism." It can be both things though, and it is. There's nothing wrong with "intellectualism" (other than by the way you seem to mean, as a pejorative). It's always been there. That's the beauty of it, that there's something for everyone. It's both simple and yet sophisticated and has more depth/complexity/beauty than most can imagine. It's not either/or.

Pope Francis recently used this in a homily where he states that Jesus gave us all a perfect example in dealing with both the devil and temptation. He does not dialogue with the devil but either out and out rejects him or turns to Scripture to refute him. Those are the only answers to temptation or the enemy. I wish someone had mentioned this in this discussion, I've found it incredibly helpful.

Why does no one offer the fact that historically, theologically and culturally the words satan, lucifer and devil do not mean the same thing? For example the words devil and demon originate from pagan, ancient Near Eastern Cultures and kingdoms that conquered Israel and Judah.

Satan, and the kings under his control, have real power over the nations, but ultimately everything belongs to God and it's his to take and give.
