If one was to accept your view of the spiritual battle that we must overcome in, which I have a hard time disagreeing with, how can we possibly stop ourselves from basically living a life with a feeling of self dependence for salvation. Sure you could say that behind the scenes all things are in God's hands but that would not be our experience daily. This leaves me confused brother.

Pray as though everything depended on God. Work as though everything depended on you. - Saint Augustine When we put on the armor of God, it’s as if we’re a weak, frail man putting on an indestructible set of armor. When we pray, we’re weak men praying for the Alpha Lion to protect us from the roaring lion. This battle is one we fight alongside our God, by our Gods power, unto His glory. We boast in our weakness, so Christ may be glorified when Christ our Lord, Shepherd, and Elder Brother protects us from the enemy. Our spiritual warfare is fought with God, not independent from Him.
