The most that could be done to eliminate the friction inside, which is next to nothing, is coat the various inside parts with, for example, a teflon spray or anything similar. However, the inside parts are mainly cushioned and "lubricated" by a thin air film. Source: en wikipedia org/wiki/Angelo_Di_Pietro_(inventor) Yes, the parts make a (minimalistic) connection, however, not as much as that of a conventional car motor, where you'd need oil to keep things rotating smoothly all the time.

I remember seeing this back in 2006. As you can see there is a prototype car. The Biggest problem is the ASA that the car would have to meet. Then they demand that you put the car through crash tests, even if the chassis and frame have been through these hurdles under a different manufacturer..I believe that the car in the video is a carbon fibre frame which is strong and light. I am sure that sound dampening could be installed to reduce the noise. Also an idea would be to have solar panels as part of the roof and bonnet design for the car. In stall solar panel roof rack. With Batteries. Leave the car in the sun.. great concept. I would very much like to see this car in production. My hat is off to this man.

New carbon fiber composite air pressure tanks can hold 10,000 psi or more and provide a range at highway driving speed, for a large passenger sedan or SUV, of 1000 miles or easily far more (by forming several air pressure tanks into side panel areas) Furthermore, as I've pointed out to GM Cadillac and others, you can use the same technology to make VTOL aircraft, in which case you save huge amounts of weight and increase mpg and efficiency by avoiding wheels, suspension and so forth. This can be made "failsafe" by using gyrocopter rotors that will autorotate in case of any type of failure, to provide a safe landing. (I don't know if counterrotating propellers in Venturi turbo housing can "auto rotate" like this but counterrotating propellers are superefficient and should be used if possible.) Another key consideration is that any auto manufacturer that goes to VTOL aircraft primarily, will dominate the personal and family transportation market.

I see you might have missed other video's about this concept. The parts will not wear easily since they're not really touching each other when spinning around. Instead, as high pressure was useda thin air cushion between the parts will keep it from wearing out. The lubrication system, is actually the compressed air between the parts

The Di Pietro motor uses a simple cylindrical rotary piston (shaft driver), which rolls, without any friction, inside the cylindrical stator. The space between stator and shaft driver is divided in 6 expansion chambers by pivoting dividers. These dividers follow the motion of the shaft driver as it rolls around the stator wall. The cylindrical shaft driver, forced by the air pressure on its outer wall, moves eccentrically, thereby driving the motor shaft by means of two rolling elements mounted on bearings on the shaft. The rolling motion of the shaft driver inside the stator is cushioned by a thin film of air. Timing and duration of the air inlet and exhaust is governed by a slotted timer, which is mounted on the output shaft and rotates at the same speed as the motor.

I guess you could always set up solar to run a compressor during the day to fill a huge air tank , but that costs money and compressors do wear out , it appears there are no silver bullets , the most convenient way to power a vehicle is still a drop of flammable fuel and a well built conventional engine . The things the ice engine has is versatility , the ability to last a long time , ease of manufacture , and the ability to run on a vast amount of different fuels .

Books exist, the car itself exists. Why are we not driving such a car, and why are we still having to pay shitloads of cash for a car that drinks fuel like it is water? Infact: Howcome we have submarines which are powered by nuclear reactors, and we can not have such a reactor power neighbourhoods? Perhaps villages? Perhaps even small cities? Howmany times has such a reactor gone meltdown, like chernobyl (which was just a steam explosion)? And Fukushima? Well, predictable. But let us be honest here. Check Galen Winsor. Howmany times has the reactor onboard a submarine or any other ship that uses it gone into a meltdown or exploded? Exactly. And yet we have to believe that one of the most efficient ways and cleanest ways of producing energy is OOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO SO DANGEROUS! People who still believe in such fairy tales are indoctrinated beyond repair.

Engines are mechanical devices which generate power from a fuel which is burned by the portion of the device that is actually doing the work, e.g. pistons, turbines and jets, whereas motors are mechanical devices that run off of a source of energy which came from somewhere else, such as a steam locomotive's boiler, an electric motor in some kind of device or a solenoid going back and forth. Develop your own mechanism with your own design and that's it. He is looking to make money by selling his patent. Is that wrong? Of course not, just that there will be no incentive because the mafia of power does not want it and those who try end up encountering extreme difficulties or die with great suspicion. Do it yourself and spread the word so that others can copy and do their own projects.

Another clever arrangement of valves/chambers/rotors/shafts/blades/etc. that can extract work from expanding compressed air. The biggest issue I see with this design is the _huge_ amount of friction in the mechanism. I hate to break this to everyone, but in the future, vehicles will NOT be running on compressed air. Compressing a gas to the pressures required to make it worthwhile isn't efficient AT ALL. The volume of compressed gas (air) required to give a vehicle a reasonable range is *enormous.* BTW, getting a patent for an idea or "invention" doesn't really mean shit unless it's a GOOD idea and someone else tries to duplicate it within their own product. Being the owner of a patent simply means you were the _first_ person to legally document an idea. It could be the dumbest thing in the world, such as a solar powered fart sequestering blower - as long as you're the first person to have it legally documented, you get a patent #.

So which petrol company bought off the patent? Not heard about this engine in the last 10 years nor seen anyone build a car around it... MDI are the last ones making promises about actually building air cars, but unfortunatelly with the least effecient engine on the market (related to my own shallow researches). In many scientific magazines the efficiency of air engiens is critizised harshly. But in those articles the fact is completly neglected, that we have a lot of surplus regenerative energy from sun and wind, which we are not able to store efficiently. If we would use the unused energy from sun and wind to compress air, the air engines would seem much more efficient when calculating in the zero-cost energy that we completely waste by now. Like so many others I would be more than willing to by a car with this engine at once!
