Taking a proven diesel engine and developing it into an outboard was a most sensible idea especially since the engine of choice is a GM product. Diesels make so much sense in boats.

Just as economical as my mates 70s Mercury 115 HP 2 stroke would empty a 6 gallon tank in less than 20 minutes (Imperial gallons) flat out 4 blokes on board, this engine is truly amazing well done guys

Amazingly quiet ! I am a little suprised that General Motors gets credit i think its cool how the transmission operates on Clutch packs and belts they really. Put a lot of thought to the build thanks for posting Alfred impressive take off power it sure doesnt sound like the General Motors Dually truck i use for pulling my boat and camper my dog can. I've tried both a single and twin-engine setup in Angelholm (Sweden, OXE/CIMCO, home town). These are automotive-derived, horizontally-mounted, diesel engines (with a very impressive, trick transmission system) so they've benefited from huge development. All around *really* impressive - performance wise very hard to tell from a petrol-engine. Plus superb consumption, low emissions (MUCH lower, than equivalent petrol).

Matthew Holzmueller take a stock outboard thats so strong its up to it. There was a 25 hp outboard with a 6 or 8 hp hatz diesel. Brand name was selvi.

The only disadvantage with belts is they will actually age and deteriorate, while drive shafts and gears will not, us motorcycle riders found that out when they started using kevlar belts instead of drive chains

Outboard and diesel is a winning combination. The question is how long will it last without problems and what is going to be the ownership cost over the lifetime of a boat. I'm a lifelong diesel tech so I know diesel always cost more to repair and maintain. Diesel will always give you torque in which I could see a benefit of that in some marina boats applications.

Well, since they are not developing the engine, there is a lower limit. They could tune it down, but it would still be the same weight. They would need to use a different engine for those power levels, maybe something like a VW polo diesel.

NEANDER Dtorque 111 has a 50 hp diesel outboard as well. They are going for the smaller engine market. When the price comes down it will be a game changer in the same way Oxe will be in the larger market. The dtorque is being marketed through the Yanmar dealers.

no u just jam it in reverse to slow down using engine power yea who cares about the lower unit and belts i bet after a dozen or so slam bam jams the hydraulic clutch plates and belts will be worn out or stretched and what they didn't mention is that the belt cogs are made of some super duper cheap to make not long to last with a slam direction shifter plastic polymer that costs pretty much a new motor for some marina mechanic to wrench on after a 12 pack scratching his head because there's no manual or anyone with experience to show how to work on these concrete shoes.... not bashing this product but there would have to be one hell of a fire sale and a 100% parts warranty and 100% labor repair cost coverage to even spark my interest but for smaller guys that use light weight high output gas motors on small salt or freshwater fishing boats this is not even in their wildest dreams to big to heavy and could buy a new gas outboard and rebuild one for a spare to the cost of one of the OXE new. If this company where to sponsor me for a year paid and all i would test their engine and put it through the worst conditions possible and then talk to them about making a Great Affordable Diesel outboard and also make their sales go up where they never thought of selling to customers.
