I know you guys are not together, but you two will make a good couple. Simply because of the work you two are doing together to better understand each other as friends and evolve as individuals is phenomenal. This is hard work and most people who are actually couples don't do it.

I am truly happy that Ali is holding his ground here. And not falling to the 'guilt tripping' that often guys fall prey to. I felt Sheen is saying "this is how I think/feel, so let us now adopt our ways of behaving/communicating with each other". And Ali was like "This is how I am, now we understand each others' perspectives. Great, let's go back to being ourselves. No one needs to change anything".

I think this gives a good insight into how guys communicate amongst themselves and how they communicate to women. Naturally as boys grow up they adopt this very open, unfiltered form of communication whereas with girls it's more emotional, detailed and caring. This is why it's difficult to really fit in with the lads because in the back of our minds we'll always have that emotional side that turns on without us realising.

You two have such a great way to talk about differences, open and honest. Thank you for filming it and putting it out. My thoughts on the accent thing: if person b makes fun of your accent, they come across as superior and person a could hear that they are not reaching the standard, the "right" way of pronouncing a certain word. It puts person b into the position of "I have figured it out, this is the right way of saying things and you still need to learn in order to reach this right standard". I think in the area of languages ever evolving and adapting this approach of right and wrong might be difficult causing sensitivity around this topic.

I found your channel after having seen Ali's channels and honestly feel the only reason i ever found Ali's channels was so that i could come across your. I can't thank you enough as i watch through your videos and try to learn how to become more emotionally intelligent but also learn how to communicate my emotions to others especially men. Currently about to give my marriage once last chance and feel all of this is a preparation for that. Thanks again

As always, insightful and informative. I kinda relate to your thought of how having that filter can make us conscious of them tampering their own personality to accommodate us more and can lead us to assume that they are not their absolute authentic self with us and we don't want that cause they are people we love and we want them to be comfortable enough to be themselves around us. The healthy way I have come to deal with this is that I have taught myself that this is not exactly possible, no one can ever be their absolute authentic self with me and that is okay, in reality, it's much healthier if we let someone filter out their actions according to our triggers. We need to stop holding on to the idea that a perfect relationship is always suppose to be easy, irrespective of what dynamic the two people share. Yes, you should be comfortable around that person but that shouldn't stop you from putting in effort. The only way to move forward is to put in the effort and work on something, even if it's relationships we are talking about.

The rule of thumb for me is to not mock someone for something you know they may have a difficult time with, especially if it's something which separates them from the rest. So, for example, Sheen is not from the UK. It's almost a given that speaking that way for her would be somewhat harder than it would be for a native. As a Singaporean, I imagine being mocked for his accent couldn't have been easy for Paul. It's okay to mock Sheen for not being great at technology, but if you guys lived in, say, Silicon Valley or someplace where most people are good with that stuff, being mocked for not being great at tech could be hurtful. So.. don't mock someone for being short if they are surrounded by tall people, don't mock someone's curls if they are surrounded by people with straight hair -- it might be a sensitive area for them.

This was rather funny in the sense that it wasn’t a couples therapy but it really did sound like one! Having said that I totally get how you feel and the point you were getting across... esp the bit when you have to tell someone in order for them to do it but you feel you shouldn’t need to and they should know from your daily behaviour. Totally get where you’re coming from on this video!

I really liked this episode. I got to see the difference between your personality and how each one perceives and react to things. Even though you both are handling these differences really good but sometimes it might be difficult because one person will be expecting more from the other while the other person doesn't see these are necessary things to do or say.

I think it's veryyy normal to add a filter even with very close friend or family, especially if you're not friendly like if u can be rude sometimes and hurt others when you don't mean it. And i honestly think it's not a "filter"but more like be a better version of yourself

In one of her travel vlogs (Cotswolds), Sheen said during the house tour- "Two people can love each other to moon and back, without being in a romantic relationship". I thought she had just explained her relationship with Ali (though the context was totally different). I am happy to see that you both in this loving relationship even though you don't want to be called 'a couple'.

Stereotypically even very young females care more for feelings of others & relate to each other emotionally & indirectly, with detailed "stories." Men & boys are stereotypically more logically wired & will be directly saying what they mean, with less vocabulary. It is also how we are nurtured too & our role models growing up :)

I struggle with the same thing with my friends as well. A battle between wanting to be one of the lads and still needing that human decency filter. Makes me wonder if I only require that filter from my guy friends or all friends. Really thinking about that now...
@immammuddin50192 жыл бұрын
You have perfectly reflected my thoughts back in the day in my college when I had to be in friendship with the opposite gender. I am from south Asia where opposite gender interaction is not the norm in all strata of the society. But during college I was in a completely liberal set up and I had to do things in a completely opposite way to how I was conditioned (read conservative) hitherto. And in those times I really did make good friends with a couple of girls and I expected the same "decency" but still wanted to be their "lad" and your thoughts were exactly what was running in mind. Do ignore if you find my rant nonsensical. Because I am not good in getting my point across.
