I grew up in NY/NJ and I'm an LA transplant. It's definitely true, people for the most part here talk like they're just chilling, not a care in the world. But that's because it's not a very fast paced life. Yes, people work and you have your urban areas but for the most part, it's a lot of beaches, mountain areas and open, wide spread land. They cram millions of people on an island 13 miles long and 2 miles wide. So of course, people think, walk and talk fast because there's always a crowd in your way.

My irritation is with the pronunciation of -ing for most Cali accents. I won't get too technical here (even though I'm a big linguistics nerd), but instead of pronouncing -ing in the back of their throats (like if you pronounced si*ng*), or with the vowel in "kit" and simply the "n" sound (like -in' as in singin'), it's more like -een (like in keen or seen) as the pronunciation of -ing. It's a sound I don't like. No offence to you, of course. And so many people outside of Californians copy this lmao
