I've watched many videos on the use of a Capo in the last few years, and yours is hands down the best because you opened a door talking about how to transpose and UG. I've been using Ultimate Guitar for a few years and never once have I used the transpose function. Thank you!

KUDOS. Maybe it's just that your brain and your communication skills work similar to mine, but I thought this was really good. You also have a great ability to sing the right notes to really illustrate what you're doing. That is God-given, but a very helpful tool. Thanks. I will follow now😊.

How do I use a capo to play GACDEm, Am and F? I’m a beginner want to stay in the same key, but use a capo to only play these cords.
@NYCGuitarSchool3 жыл бұрын
If you're referring to the shapes of those chords, You can use the capo anywhere and use those chord shapes. Just keep in mind that they wont actually be that chord anymore. For example, if you put the capo on the third fret, and play a G shape, it will actually be an A chord.

What about tuning DOWN 2 half steps?
@NYCGuitarSchool3 жыл бұрын
All your chords are still going to work in the open position, but they'll be different notes. For example if you play the open G shape, You'll actually be playing an F chord.

So transposing is calling the 4th fret capo your 0 fret and playing the shapes you know? The C.A.G.E.D method is so much better for visualizing this up the neck of a guitar. I'm just here because my piano had a transpose setting and couldn't tell the difference between that and appregio mode. 🤔
@NYCGuitarSchool2 жыл бұрын
Hi Hayden, yes you're correct the CAGED system is really good for visualizing chord shapes across the neck. It's usually for more advanced players, you can incorporate arpeggios and scales with the system. With the capo, it let's beginners play in different keys without having to play barre chords.

Why not just play the C#m and throw the capo away. I just really dont understand. Just move each chord up 4 steps. Learn other chord voicings, bars and inversions. People can do what they want and i wont talk shit but personally, I just dont understand the capos purpose
@NYCGuitarSchool Жыл бұрын
Great question! The capo is great for a player who is not yet playing barre chords but wants to play a song that has barre chords as open chords. The capo allows the player to sing and play the song in the original key. Thanks for watching!
@childrenoftheabzu Жыл бұрын
@@NYCGuitarSchool I get that but why dont they just practice and learn the insturment. Feel like used that way it enforces bad habits and laziness. Again, not shit talking. I just dont see it. I guess if you dont care to learn the instrument it allows you to play and that is cool with some? But again, I love practice and learning and that includes when I was really bad in the beginning. Maybe some just want the results and dont enjoy the journey?
