Growing up as the oldest in a family of 8 kids, I was responsible for the majority of chores and the majority of blame - parochial school was just more of the same. " Help " does not have strings attached , and if it does , that is a business deal. Anyone that wants to " just help" does not require anything in return, is not waiting for the conditions under which they might get something in return , that is a busibess deal. They don't need recognition or applause . Trusting someone is also not neccessary for them to " help " and the two are not related. Therefore , if they are waiting until there is trust, it is because they want something for which trust is neccessary but not reuquired to in order for them to" offer help ". If we buy a homeless person food : do they need to trust to eat ? Therefore, this person who wants to "help" did not in fact do so when nothing was stopping them so helping it NOT what they are seeking to do. No different than not buying that hungry person food and claiming we only wanted to help but could not because they didn't " trust " us.

this is a really round about way of considering morality. even from a give and take scenario its about what you desire from the individual more than it is about what you think you can give others, a transactional relationship seems to be the only realistic form and so you still have to setup a "deal" what you want and they can provide vs what you can provide and they want. human beans however, are not jesus christ and thus you have to be able to receive something for your time, thankfully there is a chemical the body produces that basically makes you feel good for charity.
