I've always felt it should be "N" (en) and "E" (el) so that the teens would be spoken as "...nineteen, enteen, elteen, twenty" and twenties would be spoken as "...twenty-nine, twenty-en, twenty-el, thirty" and so on. The N can also be interpreted as a rotated 2 as well as a reference to where the original "ten" used to be.

Gotta consider other languages. The rules should be based on latin or greek or whatever, like the real numbers, so it's translatable to every language. In my language we build numbers differently and "N" and "E" would make no sense at all.

Dautto Crecet damnedPurifier There are no agreed symbols for dek and el. People might also use. X for dek and E for el. Pitman came out with an upside down 2 and 3(also upside down. Those symbols are recommended, not required, by the dozenal societies of America and the UK. Others use two Greek symbols like chi and epsilon. Or delta for dek. I decided to create my own symbols for dek and el that people could write without having to lift their writing utensil as they’re writing the single digit, those two symbols being on my DeviantArt. I’m also thinking of people using the letter eng for dek and the long s for el.

Idk why but I think you should use a new Symbol for zero when using base12. To me that would avoid using the symbol 10 to mean 12. Looking at a set of symbols that clearly looks like familiar representation and of ten objects but in this case it means twelve objects is very confusing. What if we use a 0 with a slash through it or something to represent a base12 zero? Just so it’s not so hard on the eyes when looking at the theoretical whole amount your using. So it’d be 1 zero with a slash through it equals 12 instead of 10 = 12

A base number's integer divisors go into determining whether fractions are represented as terminating (single-digit) decimals or long (longer than single-digit, or even as an infini-digit). For example, 10 only has 1, 2, 5 and 10 as divisors. While 4 is a semi-termination divisor, 3 is repetitive, and so is 6. 12, for a base 12 system, has many more: 1, 2, 3, 6 and 12 itself. So 3 is not long, nor is 6 -- you don't have to estimate 1/3 or 1/6 in base 12 numerals. 1/3 = 0.333...b10 = 0.4b12.

Can you please show us how to operate using Base 12, that is to say, summation, substraction, dividing and multiplication ? And whether it is posible to use another letter for number 12 instead of combining the very first digit '1' with '0'. ie T=10, E=11 and W=12 !! Thanx a lot.

Our priginal 0 to 9 digits were created with the idea that the shape has as many angles as the number. 0 has no angles, 1 has one, 2 used to look more like Z so that's 2 angles, etc. 8 was like an hourglass (two triangles) and most numbers originally had some additional lines. If we want to build on that system, I think the additional digits should follow the same rules. A digit with a value of ten should be something with ten angles. Eleven with eleven angles. Then simplify for everyday usage. Or create an entirely new set of symbols, be because our 0 to 9 symbols have other clever properties and were built with the idea that there will be ten of them. Also it doesn't make sense using letters lile T and E because that would work only for English and number names are very different in other languages.

I have never seen the symbol T for ten and think it's awful! First of all it's a letter and we already have enough confusion with 0 and 1. The most pleasing symbol to me is a script-style X, with not straight but curvey lines that go well with the script-style E that you already have for eleven. The worst of all is the horrible upside-down 2 and 3 for ten and eleven, being pushed by people with no taste whatsoever! Other than that I've been an advocate of the dozenal system since I was a teenager 50 years ago. Nature comes in halves, thirds and quarters and math would be easier if we did it that way too.
