LYRICS (I got my copy early!): I'm amazed at how you'll reinforce your guard cause deep inside you're still a son a bitch Mistakes forever haunt you, a lie to persecute you So thoroughly it's giving you fits, it's giving you fits In your world, make believe, no one knows you Hold your breath, count to ten Staring through a vacant glass that nothing can hope to ever fill When movement ceases and everything is still I thought that time was frozen, instead my resting state I thought we'd be forever, what was I to say You were never alone, you just didn't know where to fucking go But who will hear you fall, if no one's there at all (Do you feel fine) are you a-okay Do you wake up smiling? (Do you feel fine) do you feel alright Are you always shining Do you feel fine Do you feel fine Do you wake up smiling I'm amazed at how you'll reinforce your guard cause deep inside you're still a son a bitch Mistakes forever haunt you, a lie to persecute you So thoroughly it's giving you fits, it's giving you fits It's giving you fits I gave you everything you wanted, you were everything to me In your world, make believe In your world, no one knows you

BTW, ever since Irony is a Dead scene with Mike Patton it seems Greg Puciato was brought on to try to capture that range and ability to keep up with the chaos of DEP. This song seems his voice is really blending in with the band better than I've ever heard so far. And that's saying a lot considering he's always done a great fucking job.

That is the only thing I have trouble with DEP : Their best stuff was with Patton and their EP Irony is a Dead Scene. I mean I really love DEP, but it feels like Puciato is always trying to push more intense, but Patton was already top-notch on the EP. But still, great song and the ending is great.

Yup, Ben was interviewed by Noisey and stated that this album and its tour cycle are the last things the band will be doing. They're calling it an "extended hiatus", but really they're totally done for the foreseeable future. It was clearly a mutual decision between the band members though, they're all still tight, so there is ALWAYS going to be the possibility that they'll return. For now though, they're done.

Walter Slaughter Yeah, I totally get that. That's why I said "for the foreseeable future" and "for now". The point is that if they were to ever reunite for whatever reason, temporary or permanently, the members are in a position, relationship-wise, where that is a totally possible scenario. But, like I said, FOR NOW, this is it, the end, the last chapter, fin, for TDEP.

Y'all broke up when I was 14, I was very heartbroken but I knew it was for the better of the members of the band. I didn't fully understand this back then. I didn't really understand the lyricism of this album either. Now at 22, I know I'm still young but I have been through bullshit that already started before I was 14. Just kept getting worse and worse. I completely understand the lyrics now. Was interesting to learn Greg Puciato has ADHD too (emotional dysregulation can play a part). The drug use, the suicidal ideation, I mean I was also diagnosed with BPD too if that matters (currently in remission 🎉) You can finally separate oneself from the ego, and you found something that was with you all along. It can be frustrating that you had to go through so much to find something so close yet so far. In stillness and presence. And no one is born with an enlightenment handbook, how to reach that state. You either make it or you don't, directions are unknown. "We see most clear from lowest points" Damn right dude...

I think these guys throwing in the towel was going to happen sooner than later. DEP are known for their crazy shows and they can only keep doing this for so long before things start to take a toll. What I would say to anyone who hasn't or is just new to their music is to go see them live before its too late. I was lucky enough to see them with Mastodon in London and it was without a doubt one of the best show I have been to. The music and performances were flawless and they released balloons at the end of the show while both bands came on stage and sung "The Creature Lives". Fucking amazing.

I always have an emotive and strange feeling with this band. I know DEP since 2002, Ben and his team help me to grow up, from teen to "adult". Those guys gimme the energy to wake up and make an unique/happy/simple life. I know this band is a part of me because I started a hiatus with my girlfriend just one day before I knew DEP go on hiatus. I leave everything, stop internet, take care of my family, thinking and smiling, listen to this song. You know, there is some parallel lines in this life. The DEP hiatus is an another step in my life to. Try to understand some things. To catch some things. To take it easy some things. Learn to be calm. My aim is to work for those guys, it's my goal. It's my life line. I'll get there. Thank you. Nick

One Of Us Is The Killer. Respect.

It's sad to see them go! But Hey New Album! An unknown song of DEP is like going to a a treasure chase! You feel yelled at and kicked at the first listen, but after a while you notice stuff, you understand rythms and you are able to really enjoy and get the song. I love it!

That reprise mid way through the song is definitely one of the most, visceral, brutal, punishing moments in the history of vocals

Still one of the most consistently difficult bands to listen to. Super influential and inspiring to many of my favorite bands, though. RIP DEP

I'm amazed at how you reinforce your guard cause Deep inside, you're still a son of a bitch Mistakes forever haunt you A lie to persecute you So thoroughly, it's giving you fits It's giving you fits! In your world, make believe No one loves you Hold your breath Count to ten Bare hands to a vacant Glass That nothing can hope to ever fill When movement ceases, and Everything is still I thought that time was frozen Instead my resting state I thought we'd be forever What was I to say? Oh! You were never alone You just didn't know Where to fucking go But who will hear you fall If no one's there at all? Do you (Are you okay?) Feel fine? (Do you wake up smiling?) Do you (Do you feel alright?) Feel fine? (Are you always shining?) Do you Feel fine? Do you Feel fine? Do you wake up smiling? I'm amazed at how you reinforce your guard cause Deep inside, you're still a son of a bitch Mistakes forever haunt you A lie to persecute you So thoroughly, it's giving you fits, it's giving you fits Giving you fits Giving you Fits Giving you fits giving you fits giving you fits giving you fits I gave you everything you wanted You were everything to me I gave you everything you wanted And you were everything to me I gave you everything you wanted you were everything to me I gave you everything you wanted you were everything to me I gave you everything you wanted you were everything to me I gave you everything you wanted you were everything to me I gave you everything you wanted you were everything to me I gave you everything you wanted you were everything to me I gave you everything you wanted you were everything to me I gave you everything you wanted you were everything to me I gave you everything you wanted you were everything to me I gave you In your world, make believe In your world, no one loves you!

I don't wanna see them quit, but at the same time I understand. dillinger escape plan has been around for 20+ years, the fact a band can last that long is a achievement most usually don't accomplish.

I've been following these guys for years. Through both vocalists, the several rhythm guitarists, and drummers, not to mention their changes in style. I can't think of any other band in my opinion to still sound so great after all of those changes. A lot of people were pretty pissed when Dillinger started getting more and more melodic but I freaking loved the shit out of it. Found it clever that their last album is in a sense returning to their fuck-everything-just-chaos roots. I love you guys, hope to continue hearing great things from all of you. As an era comes to an end, another begins.

Luke Rogers Well this would be the quickest gap they've taken between albums if that's the case. I love them, but I wish they were more prolific, oh well the albums are good enough each time, so it's not that big a deal.

Well, it's been over three years now since the release of Reach Beyond The Sun. I think we still probably have about another 2 years to wait until the new full length comes out, if indeed they do release one, of course.

I had this sing stuck in my head earlier this morning on my way to class and had a couple minutes to kill before lecture started. So I pulled out my phone, looked up this video, put on my headphones and pushed play. And that's when I realized I forgot to actually plug the headphones into my phone. Boy was that fun.

Saw them for the first and last time live a few days ago. Immensely brutal show that ended in a trashed venue and a couple ambulances outside. Shit was intense, and the venue was nowhere-near prepared to handle a show like that. Funnest show of my fucking life. I'm gonna miss them a lot, and while I wish I had discovered them and gone to see them live sooner, I'm glad I got to see them before it was too late. While it was emotional seeing DEP go, the other bands in the lineup helped serve as a reminder to me that DEP may not be the last of their breed, and that their departure was more like a retirement, passing down the baton to the next generation of bands. It was a bittersweet goodbye, but I have faith we might see a new act take the stage with the intensity of DEP someday.
