My favorite dinner scene is the one in "The Party" where Peter Sellers character is trying to eat his chicken with his knife and fork and it somehow flies onto this lady's hair in front of him and then Steve Franken who played the waiter goes to retrieve the chicken, but ends up taking the lady's wig with him and sets the chicken and wig onto Seller's character's plate. Also, the scene where Franken is serving the guests salad using his hands instead of the tongs.

absolutely brilliant 'best dinner scenes in movies' ! a micro view of all moviemaking is about... was completely flabbergasted when the chaplin bread dance appeared at the end cause I could just put it all together... the video essay could keep on with chaplin for another half an hour on that dinner alone... thanks, the experience of deconstructing and analysing dinner scenes did enhance the appreciation... cheers from Rio - italian dinner will be served shortly.

I wouldn’t say you missed it but the movie ‘Novecento’ 1900 by Bernardo Bertolucci - where you can see the hard working people eating like a family, the lighting was the sunset and it was nothing but joy. Than switched scenes to the fascist landowners where the family was arguing and they had no sun so they had to use candles for lighting.
