The way CGB said "and now look at them, reduced to chump blocking with Adeline" had me in stitches for a good 30 seconds. I enjoy his rants immensely. Also wanted to add a remark that I'm in the "losses are great content" especially when there's analysis of what could have gone better or confirmation that the loss couldn't have been shored up with a better available play. I can't imagine the grindfest that must have to happen behind the scenes sometimes in order to snag winning matches of reasonable length with interesting interactions. My eyes glaze over the first time I see monored, let alone the 12th in a given play session.

It's always good to see the losses, especially hard-fought attempts to pull a losing position out of the fire. Salt at opponent beating down the door immediately when you lack counter-play turns one and two is less interesting, though definitely familiar!

I enjoyed the video yesterday for sure. One reason I think people tune out when there are a bunch of loses is because people want to be able to just plug in a deck that wins. They want the “true” experience but they want that experience to be all wins.

I find it ironic that WOTC extended the length that sets are eligible for Standard to solve meta stagnation, and in doing so, have stagnated the meta even more. I struggle to think of a single play based positive that WOTC have introduced in the last 3 or 4 years.
@Basoosh11 ай бұрын
From the WOTC announcement article, they actually did it to increase meta stagnation, calling it increased "stability". Which is even more bewildering to me. Rather than just misfiring, they are confidently going in the wrong direction.

Personally, as a mono red player, I play it because it's the cheapest way for a new player like me to grind for currency and packs from the constructed rank thing. The main draw for me is to hopefully use those gold for Historic Brawl or Draft. It's a means to an end for me. ;w;
@hastat732211 ай бұрын
I get you, I was on the mono red grind for a while too before getting enough wildcards for other archetypes. Back then mono blue Djinn tempo was also a good budget deck but I think it can't compete currently, sad because it's way more fun than mono red aggro.

While I love the content you got, the wins are the best part to see because of highlights, seeing a well oiled machine and so on. Though mixing in an occasional loss is refreshing, seeing the flaws in a deck, or maybe the punishments of a misplay. In my personal opinion, that is the most entertaining way. Bunch of the wins, with one or two of the losses. (The losses help relate the pains of mana screw or mono red blaspheme)

Most likely the guy was just playing to his outs. He probably hopes CGB thinks the 2 damage on the battle is NBD in which case he could flip the battle with Monstrous Rage if it's unblocked and maybe have a chance (though I think even then is pretty unlikely to win, since the mono red gameplan usually relies on being the beatdown the whole time). Playing out the rage at that point does nothing but if he's gonna scoop anyway he might have wanted to show the rage as if to say "I had a plan at least"

I remember playing a historic brawl match against you that didn't make the cut, because in that particular video you just showed wins in the YT video as far as I can remember. After our match I went to your twitch and recalled the text in chat. Your viewers loved the match. So, I was sad to not see it make the video. I think the majority cause of game wins in the Gold Tier is salty rage-quitting concessions, so 30 removal / denial and a wincon is therefore great for that meta 😂. I'd argue that you don't even need a wincon. People will give up when they have an empty hand, an empty board, and you have a full grip of 7.
