There's a first for everything! We made a surprise trip to Wall Stadium for their 50th Annual Turkey Derby to watch Billy Pauch Jr jump behind the wheel of a TQ Midget. To our surprise he got another ride while we were there and jumped behind the wheel for another race! First laps ever in both cars and first time ever running a dirt modified on asphalt!!!

Went to Wall Stadium for the first time. Had heard or read about the place for decades! Other years I would head up to Accord for the Gobbler. That would have been 2X the drive or more. Dirt modified on asphalt is super fun to drive and watch my dad did it for years and he said it’s the best time he had in a dirt modified because you can get the car upset and side ways and all you do is put your foot deeper in the carb and the car will stick

Hello mandee, didn't get to see the race to far of a commute for me from Scotland south dakota. But I did see dirt modifies on asphalt back when Flemington paved it. I used to work on the 28w of Mike wilczek sportsman car

I used to love and hate watching you guys run the bigger track. I know that from in the car it didn't seem that fast but watching from the outside looked scary fast. You guys literally were faster than the modifieds back then. I was always concerned that if one got stuck in the fence it would be a really bad situation...

I'm sure he could do well in one of those cars too. His dad was very good at Flemington in an asphalt modified. It would take some planning though, there's not enough cars to go around and also not enough spots in the field. On Saturday they had about fifteen cars split between two consies. Three cars from each consie went to the feature.

he looked great in the modified... and yes I have seen 2 races where the dirt mods ran on pavement. both were at Cayuga Speedway in Ontario... around 1989 and 90 if I am recalling correctly. thats when there was an asphalt series at tracks all over the northeast US and Ontario and Quebec. you had all the big name DIRT drivers with purpose built cars and a bunch of asphalt ringers would run as well. you can find the videos of many of those races on youtube.

If you listened the TQ was geared down a 1000 RPM.

12.8 is a good time for that track. I was surprised. For reference the fastest asphalt tour modifieds were around 12 seconds, while most of them were around 12.4's. Sportsman asphalt cars are generally around 13 seconds.

Regular weekly run modifieds, I believe Brett Hearn ran in those days as well as Bare foot Bob. There were dirt tracks that were asphalt back then. Malta and Utica Rome were asphalt back then, with dirt under them. Malta still has the asphalt under the dirt.@@jerseyshoredroneservices225

Wall is awesome. Tour type mods are awesome. Turkey derby is awesome But. For. The. Love. Of. God. Can we make asphalt racing move along faster? I'd love to see more asphalt mod races but I'm not being held hostage at the track for 12 hours. Prime example is turkey derby. You cant show up an hour before the tour race and expect to get a seat. Its ridiculous.
