Man how things changed between the bounty bowls and body bag game to bounty gate. Seems to me that everyone forgets the animosity between the Cowboys and Eagles since Dallas came into the NFL in 1960. Almost every game was played extremely hard by one team or another or both. The Eagles fans will never forget what Dallas did to Harold Carmichael during 1 game in particular.
@kellyjohnson9394 Жыл бұрын
I watched Carmichael get destroyed well out of bounds and the coward referee made no call. As a young Eagles fan, that was the beginning of my disdain for the cowgirls. Buddy Ryan built a defensive but neglected the offense even though they had Randle Cunningham and some very good wide receivers, they hated each other although they were on the same team. The Eagles defense was the reason I loved Ryan’s teams even though they were I’ll-prepared for their playoff games with the exception of the fog bowl playoff game in Chicago where two touchdown passes were dropped in the end zone.

In that forgettable replacement player game, Landry was forced to play Dorsett, Jones, White and whoever else because the veteran contracts contained a clause whereby veterans would forfeit long term annuities if they sat out. Tex Schramm was the culprit behind all this and it affected the team's morale for a number of years thereafter. Landry could have complained or explained the situation but his nature was to follow managment's orders like "the good soldier" that he was. He didn't like it but took the heat silently. An embarrassment for the Dallas franchise at that time in history and right up Buddy Ryan's motivational alley.

As an old Washington fan for many years, I recall the ugly legacy of the Buddy Ryan years, especially the infamous "Body Bag" game vs. the Iggles the following year. Ryan's thugs caused nine injuries to the 'Skins players, forcing them to put in their RB as QB in the 4th quarter. Fortunately, Washington got sweet revenge in the playoffs, thumping Philly easily. If they had seriously investigated this, they probably could’ve prevented the New Orleans Saints doing the bounty gate that they did later on in 2009. The Most satisfying thing was A Year Later, Jimmy Johnson won Coach of the Year, and on the Same Day, Buddy Ryan was Fired! Karma is A Bitch...

This might've helped explains why 90% of the eagles fan base is trash. Because the organization is trash

Ashamed to learn of this as an Eagles fan born in 1991. No wonder our fan base gets so much hate to this day 🙄

A real rivalry if there ever was one. Nowadays you got Vikings fans on Twitter saying they hope Lions go all the way to rep the NFC north. What kinda crap is that??😂

It was one of the all-time great EAGLES games. Reggie and the gang make those cowgirls cry. BTW, enjoy the Superbowl. A team where 3 players take up 90% of the cap will never sniff it.

The Buddy Ryan Eagles were an inconvenience during the regular season, but always managed to get ousted from the playoffs immediately. Never a top tier team.
