The Dirty 14. A collection of Sears Suburban Tractors 1967 through 1973 and 1976

The Sears Suburban Backyard Tractor Club presents: The first annual Sears Suburban Garden tractor swap meet. Inspired by LynolsOffice videos, 3 guys and a pole barn have found a relatively cheap hobby and have assembled a collection of 16 Sears Suburban, Sears Super (SS), Sears ST, Sears Twin, Sears Custom XL and a Sears Custom. 14 were put on a trailer and hauled out to the first annual Sears Suburban Garden Tractor swap meet. Only a handful of people stopped by the display and a couple of people exchanged emails with us but it was hoot. It took 3 trips to get them all at the show and we ran out of time to bring the 73 Custom XL and 66 Custom 6. All of these tractors run but a few have yet to be dialed in. We also do not have enough batteries to run them all at the same time. Watch for more videos to come as we put these diamonds in the ruff to work with rotto-tilling, plowing, snow blowing, excavating, harrowing, disking, mowing, hauling and everything else we use these tractors to do around the house.

how can you tell how old a tractor is i bought a sears suburban 15 at a yard sale for 150 dollers with a snowplow,snowblower,harrow,dirtplow,disks,seed spreader.

i have a 1977 sears 12/6 that i am rebuilding its my first time working with an old horizontal output engine the engine turns over but im getting no spark there are these 2 little nubs on the flywheel but i dont know what there for if you can give me any insight i would appreciate it

@jjk64581970 I have to do a little research on your question but if it has a white motor, it is my opinion that you have an aftermarket HH100 or HH120. Same motor. They sold those motors new up until the 80s (I think). Google model numbers and you can find out a bunch of info. I'll ask Manic Mechanic your question. He knows this stuff better than me.

@signman3331 Your starter will depend if your motor has a flywheel. If not You will find everything you need at searspartsdirect punch in this model #917.25311. If it does have a flywheel let us know SSBTC!

@2000eclipseracer Onan was bought out by cummins and I think parts can be found at cummins distributers. e bay is another great place. Expect to pay . Prices are ridiculous on Onans.

I have a 72 custom 10XL in which I'm in the process of building and engine for. I took an HH120 block (bigger bore) and had it bored .020 over and put a JE forged piston with a higher compression height. The rod is a billet aluminum, the cam was sent to have 8 degrees of duration added and it opens and closes faster having the valves at wide open about 3 times longer. It got a 3 angle valve job, bowl blend and ports cleaned. I dropped chevy sb exhaust valves in it so it should make 20 hp @ 3600

Some models were leftovers from the previous year and sold new in the year youre tractor is said to be sold. I believe you can tell by the first number of the serial number. Ex. Starts with a 3 built in 73 but may have been sold new in 74. Email me you model number and Ill look it up.

@NIGHTRIDER995 Google the model number found under the seat. It will start with 917. I believe the SS15 was only made in 1972 and came with a Briggs. You got a great deal.

The engine that was in it ran perfectly and does not smoke. I wanted more power and didn't want to mess with trying to match an engine and make a new clutch bracket. The easiest thing I figured was get a 12 and build it. I wish they made forged cranks like they have for the Kohler K series. I'm not gonna spin it over 3600 so a stock crank won't be an issue. 20 hp won't be much problem getting out of this engine, they're pretty detuned to begin with.

None taken and I agree that the SSs are nicer models. My favorite years are the 1969 and 70 models. I like the grill and hood the most for these years. Id like to see an orange 1969 regular Suburban or SS if they exist in original form and not repainted. The 68 SS in this group is by far the best condition unit. Near mint.

@S0thernman The nubs are for your timing on the later HH120 (assuming it is a Tech). My guess is your problem is with the solid state ignition if you‘ve check and rechecked all of your wiring including safety switches, new plug and ground.
