Well, studies have shown that for couples in Iceland who have a certain degree of inbreeding it is actually good for fertility. Outbreeding is also quite dangerous. There are studies about this as well but it is difficult to study this in today's scientific climate as it is a "controversial" topic. But if you study the animal kingdom, they have discovered that fish that get accidentally cross-bred between species are very quickly weeded out in nature.

Genetically speaking, the human species was down to 11,000 individuals at one time. It was a genetic bottleneck. My family moved to a small town when I was 2. My best friend was there from an original family of that town. All of his girlfriends growing up were related to him in some way. Mostly 2nd cousins, but at least one was a first cousin. Thank God I didn't have that problem.

I find it funny that the reason I didn’t grow up believing Christianity is because of the Adam and Eve story, because as a small child I was such a massive nerd that I realized “oh wait, but if everyone is descended from two people, we would be horribly inbred” and even though I didn’t really understand how that worked at the ripe old age of 5 I did know that inbreeding = bad lmao
@stauguastine
@stauguastine 26 күн бұрын
I guess you're not really a nerd, so stop using that to describe yourself. You're leaving out that fact that there were no genetic mutations when Adam and Eve were first created and it would take a very long time to start stacking up genetic mutations to cause any issues with having kids with people of close relations, so no, your assessment is still on the level of a 5 year old. The whole idea of genetic entropy presupposes degradation in the genetic code, which conversely presupposes that those mutations did not exist in the genetic code in the distant past. The only reason we cannot successfully have offspring today with relatives is only due to genetic entropy, there is no reason that would have been a problem for Adam and Eve's offspring. So yes, turn your nerd card in you don't deserve to own it and it is obvious that you suffer from too much genetic entropy so you better check the lineage of your parents. Nevertheless, I am sure your Uncle Dad and your Aunt Mom did a great job raising you.

It said Kane was marked and went to live with the others. So it seems Adams and Eves DNA was created different from the others.
@stauguastine
@stauguastine 24 күн бұрын
@@joannlarson6386 I think it is time you reread that part of Genesis, it doesn't say he went to live with "others", he had his wife and they had offspring and created the line of Cain. Cain and his wife were the offspring of Adam and Eve. Geneticists concluded that all human beings on Earth right now can trace their lineage back to the Eve gene, a single common female ancestor whom scientists called the Mitochondrial Eve. So, yeah, there's that too. We're all related in reality.

Interesting little factlet: the distance from the Earth to the Sun is known to astronomers as an "Astronomical Unit" (AU). The ratio of 1 AU to 1 light year is almost identical to the ratio of one inch to one mile. This means that if you draw a dot roughly the thickness of a human hair, then another dot half that thickness one inch away, the furthest humans have ever travelled from the earth is from the centre to somewhere around the edge of that smaller dot. And Proxima Centauri is four and a quarter miles away.

I can confirm this first hand. My grt Grt grandparents were cousins (either once removed or second; their maternal grandmothers were sisters, it’s possible they were twins too). Anyway my paternal line is still paying for it and hard. They were the last ones in our direct line, that I know of, to intermarry. My dad’s mother had some family intermarriage, but nothing like my dad’s paternal grandmother’s family. Plus no one on my grandmother’s family seemed to be affected the way they are on the other side. They’re all just..different and in several ways. I was reluctant to view this at first because as a rural hillbilly U.S. Southerner we have often been accused of having family trees that didn't branch. I was prepared to be outraged but found this presentation to accurately present the truth about genetics. By the way, the Hapsburgs were rightly mentioned but has anyone traced the geneology of the British noble classes? My own American ancestry is mostly unknown because very few records were kept for people of their station in the early years of colonization, but they seem to include people from much of western Europe as well as some Native Americans, if I had impregnated one of my first cousins there should have been a genetic safety buffer built in. That never happened even though all of them grew up to be exceptionally attractive young women. If we ever launch multi- generational starship colony ships it would be easy to include genetic diversity in the form of frozen sperm and ova; I would think the greater danger would be that the would go mad and kill each other.

His father had a sister who gave birth to his mother. That's REALLY inbred. This means his father Y had a daughter X by his own sister Z, whom he married. Then Z dies, so he marries his own daughter X. She's (X )is the product of he (Y) and his own sister (Z), ok? So Y marries his daughter X and they gave birth to the man in question, whose name I missed because I was too blown away. After someone liked it and I was notified, I reread it and found that I screwed it up and it sat that way for a week. Sorry folks. Anyway, that's how messed up it is. I didn't think it was possible to conceive in this situation. I guess practice makes...uh.... possible? And the resultant freak survived smallpox? Take THAT Darwin. Or, way to go, Darwin. @@Nanamka Both species took advantage of the others females for sport or circumstance (village raid, trade, ambush). Each considered the other "ugly" but an acceptable receptical "to relieve ones needs". Animal sex was not desireable but present and Neanderthals we're considered animals as it was. Cross-breeding brought about deformities of their own, but over 40,000 years, most have been bred out or absorbed. Similar to Australia's position years ago that they would "breed the blackness" out of the Aborigines by placing them with whites. Nowadays the cultures are splitting more rapidly as blacks and whites combine, Asians with Europeans, Chinese with Hispanic, the resulting children as diverse as ever! Except for North Koreans. They're a little different and unique in avoiding polluting their countrys gene pool. Have a great life cousin!!

Basically all humanoid ancestors on the big family tree of humankind were in some way assimilated or “absorbed” into the fold through interbreeding and the combined genetics and traits that resulted had been the beginning of our modern day selves as homo Sapians. Basically all da hominids were gettin’ freaky with each other in a massive interspecies orgy for a few odd centuries and we’re the end result.

@@vhawk1951kl I'm sure you know better than all our scientists 😂 Evolutionary theory has been proven time and time again, via direct observation and the most solid of predictions. Anyways, Evolutionary theory actually shows much the opposite - aside from literally the first microorganisms, we do not *have* to be inbred. Since evolution is a gradual process and we did not "suddenly become humans", there was probably just some colony of anatomically modern humans that bred, and there did not have to be 2 "first" humans. To think so is honestly absurd from an evolutionary standpoint. There was a moment around 70,000 years ago where it's estimated that due to a supervolcano only ~1000 humans were left. Inbreeding probably happened, as this was probably not one big colony of one thousand people and you need that full 1000 people to maintain genetic diversity by some estimates. Unlike creationism, which claims that we are descended from 2 people, and also claims that every single animal today is descended from just 2 of its kind. (Adam and Eve, Noah's boat) I don't think you really understand your own position, Peter.

I absolutely love him speaking in such a factual and professional way and then saying "We, as a species are essentially...fucked." He starts off the sentence in such a professional and factual sounding way, I found that really funny.
