Dear Friends,
Daniel and I often watched episodes of Thomas at his house during the summer, and in the advent of Series 18 we realised that Thomas and his coaches are fairly unexplored in fan media, and why should we let the TV series have all the fun, eh? Using an idea I had once about a disagreeable coach which I couldn’t use in my own series, we brainstormed ideas for how and what should happen should an interloper be introduced on Thomas’ branch line. I am quite honoured to have been a part of the creative process of this, and even more so with how the video has turned out in the end, especially with how Daniel has directed this.

Dear Viewers,
Of all the adventures in the books and TV show we watch and enjoy, my favourites are probably those of Thomas, Annie and Clarabel. They were charmingly endearing and have stuck in the hearts and minds of a generation- there is a reason Andrew Brenner revived the format in Seasons 17 and 18. I'm delighted to have had the opportunity to co-write this story with Haydn. It's a nostalgia fest for the both of us. The story is as traditional as we could make it, and Chris' excellent narration evokes strong memories of early days in the fandom for us both. That said, for this, the 70th year of the RWS and 30th of the TVS, it would be wrong to stick with the old wholeheartedly. Our intention was to write something as traditional as possible, while making it thoroughly up to date in the style of its production. We’re very proud of the final product and hope that you enjoy it too.
