I had the same thought when we first saw this video many years ago. We bought it from Rabbi Singer's "Let's Get Biblical". I wondered how believing xians were honest enough to produce such a masterpiece of this very famous disputation. Because King James was an honest man and a man of his word, The Ramban survived and wrote about the disputation...which is why this film was able to be made...the information of how it unfolded was documented. The Ramban lived out his life in Acre, Eretz Yisrael...B"H, which, unfortunately, was not the case with any of the other rebbeim who were FORCED into disputations and then brutally murdered. There were disputations throughout europe in Medieval Times. The xians have been an abomination to the Jews...and to HaShem!

Two wrong things in this link: 1. This deals mostly with sexual offenses and, since our tribunals lost the autonomy to inflict more severe penalties, our tribunals were authorised to inflict only financial penalties on the offender. Also, 200 zuzim is a fairly big amount of money, which could be the equivalent of todays's 1,000 dollars. 2. The laws on the marriage contract targets a situation that used to happen back then, when the Romans or other people used to kidnap unmarried Jewish women, and sometimes fake marriage where someone would marry an infant and then show the marriage contract to prevent the kidnapping. Other than that, a real marriage cannot be done unles the woman agrees to it, as seen in the Hilchot Biah, 4th chapter, as compiled by Ramba"m.

In 19th century in France there was a Rabi called Paul Drach who converted to catoliscism. He wrote several books to explain his conversion, all this stuff is available but it is writen in French. Drach explains that to know if Jesus is the Messiah or not it does not matters what matters what judaism says today but how the tradition of the ancient sinagogue interpreted the profets in 1st century. The jewish tradition was refedinied in a biased way after the lost of the temple. It is possible to says that for ancient sinagogue 1) Daniel chapter 9 was interpreted as the 1st century, the Messiah must come in 1st century. In Flavius Jopsephus it is possible to see that it was interpreted in this way in 1st century, the Qumran documents interpret in this way, even talmud interpret in this way. 2) Isaiah 53 was interpreted as Messianic by talmud sanhedrim 98, by the Targum of Jonathan, by the Midrash and also by the documents of Qumran. It seems that it was how it was interpreted in 1st century. 3) The Messiah is divine. The documents of Qumran interpret like that, the analyses of Daniel 7:14 in aramaic tells us that the Son of Man receives worship, but God is the only one who deserves that, thus he is the son of God. The midrashim also gaves support for a divine Messiah.

God is Echad. God is Love. In Echad God, there exist True and Perfect Love. And in Love, there must be Lover and Beloved just like in Knowledge, there must be Knower and Known. So you see in One God--Love--there is a Lover and Beloved. So the Messiah, the LORD, is the Beloved sharing One Love with the Lover. In other words, there is equality between the Lover and the Beloved in diginity and nature and power. And this why Yehshua said, "Before Abraham came to be, I AM" because as the Beloved of the Lover, He shares same Hashem. His Love reveals the Truth about who God is in much deeper and clearer way.
@maishchaitoff96843 жыл бұрын
Echud means one. he is one. That's it. You complicate the meaning by throwing in empty words like "love".
Yehshua is not just a man. When He came, though He was in the Form of God He didn't cling into His Godly Form. Rather, He was found in the form of man in order to save man as man thru the power of Holy Spirit. It was and is that human nature needs Salvation and God can only forgive sins and recreate human nature by becoming a man like a Trojan horse entering the territory of the kingdom of Satan and fooling the force of darkness. But not just any man but from within--morally and spiritually and intellectually--Perfect man. His perfection was within than merely in His appearance. The inner being, His Soul, where all things matter. It was the ultimate humility for Word of God to be a man. Only love can induce such humiliation. The Hebrews, while in Pharaoh land, were called to worship Him. So they were saved not for themselves but to worship God and to show the world how to worship Him properly. The Temple worship even though accepted by God, it was not perfect. So for God the Father, the Son by becoming a Man, gives perfect and just offering on behalf of sinners, in return we offenders receive mercy from God the Father.

Replacement Theology ?
@patri16893 жыл бұрын
@@WeCube1898 "Do not think I have come not to abolish the laws or the Prophets. I am not to destroy but to fulfill." These are the words of Yahshua as ascribed in Matthew Gospel. It is logical that bulls n goats or rams dont offer up perfect sacrifice even when they are offered up for the forgiveness of sin. And let's remember that God says the "life is in the blood." Now which blood is higher or more nobler?? Bulls and rams or human life. Obviously human life. But the crux of the matter is that Yahushua by His word n deed demonstrates he is not just another man but totally united with the power n will of God in His inner being. Therefore, his sacrifice goes way beyond, in its value n meaning, as his priceless life was taken away in a most violent way. So his sacrifice prefects the Old Testament prophesies and messianic anticipation, as we read in Isaiah 53. The one thing that separates us from God is sin. Sin is a crime. The only way to enter into Father-child relationship is only when we attain forgiveness of sin as demanded by God himself. Since God is Perfect Love, God demands perfect response. Since non of us can't do it, God has to come in the likeness of us, to redeem us from the power of satan that rule the world and give us the power of love that destroy the enemy within. This is where faith or trust in Yahushua comes in. He Speaks for us. He intercede for us. His Cross is the truth, and His death on the Cross is the ultimate love and His Resurecction is the basis of our hope and fidelity.

I have to disagree that Nachmanides read the New Testament because he said that Jesus never claimed he was god, that is very incorrect because he did indeed say that especially in the Gospel of Matthew. The talmud was written way after the death of Jesus and the stories about Jesus are more of a Parody against Jesus then it was actual fact. The real thing that Jesus often talked about was Oral Torah of which he was absolutely well informed on it. He was a Rabbi and was deeply religious in the Jewish tradition. Then we look at the fact that Jesus is considered King of the Jews and was a descendant of King David. The King of Judah at the time of Jesus's birth was not a descendant of King David I just want everyone to know that. Yes Herod's family were actually converts to Judaism so not direct descendants of David so its very questionable if they were Messiahs because they had title of King of Judah.

This was NOT a blow to christianity, as one other has stated. The christian argument isn't that the coming of Jesus was the prophesied utopia but was a coming of redemptive sacrifice, that when there is a resolution of that era, the swords will be beaten in plowshares and the christian messiah will return. The idea that the 'jews are christ' is rediculous in christian theology, it says only that 'jews would produce a savior' not be the savior themselves. In an attempt to justify their own oppression I believe they made themselves christ in their minds, trying to rationalize the relentless pounding. According to Christianity, they suffer because they produced a savior, this made them an object of hate in this 'demon haunted world'. Satan is given a much more prominent position in Christianity as an earthly oppressor, I think this is the main misunderstanding between the two groups.

Something I notice regarding non-messianic Jew scholars is when it fits their agenda they use the literal meaning of the scriptures and when not they regard it to figure of speech or parables. G’d commended Moses and the people of Yisrael not to add or subtract and that’s something they keep on doing as well bringing new content the Talmud to holy inspiration. Isaiah 53 is not talking about Israel but it then becomes figure of speech to fit their agenda. The Tanakh is to be taken literally that’s how it was handed to Moses and the prophets. Rabbis are also another creation in the Kingdoms you had only the Prophets and the Levites who did everything according to the written Torah WITHOUT adding and/or subtracting. No where in the Kingdoms you had the Rabbis these interprets of the law because G’d and Him only is the Judge of His own words. Rabbis are a corruption also to what G’d had set. No wonder more than 2 thousand years without a man made temple that shows G’d is not worried and is not necessary at all for Him clearly showing G’d is not part of whatever is going on since Christ’s era begun.

If Christianity were true to its own declared purpose--if Christ has come to fulfill the Law--a Church would not be necessary. Popes, pastors, preachers would not be necessary. A Bible would not be necessary, and translations would certainly not be necessary. Christians know of their Christ through other people. Christians are constantly interpreting their doctrines and rationalizing their ideas. There is not just one Christianity but many. There have been many disagreements and many bloody wars trying to force ideas when they couldn't be proved. Jews are honest in trying to understand God's will through Reason and empathy.

@@marccohen1335 Christianity is very similar to judaism you have many sects the catholics are the orthodox jews both follow their own traditions and not the Bible. Protestants would be the sadducees (karaites) following only the scripture and nothing else and so on. But the main thing is Christianity in true is the main sect of judaism. christians is the word in greek and latin for messianics, and it's become evidente by archeological discoveries that after the desstruction of the Temple in 70AD messianics became the main sect in judaism.

Isaiah 53 can't be about Jesus for several reasons, which I can go into if anyone wants to hear them. The rabbis can honestly say Isaiah 53 is speaking of the children of Israel because that fits with the rest of Isaiah; after all, Isaiah NAMED 'the Servant' as being Jacob/Israel several times throughout his book [Isaiah 41:8-9; 44:1-2, 21; 45:4; 48:20; 49:3, 5; by the way, the association of Israel with the servant also appears in Jeremiah 30:10; 46:27-28 and in Psalm 136:22]. The rabbis can ALSO honestly say Isaiah 53 refers to the messiah because in the Tanakh, messiah had a specific meaning: one who was anointed with the Holy Oil of Anointing to serve in one or two of three special offices or capacities: prophet, priest, or king. In the Torah, God called Israel His Priestly Nation. Therefore, Israel is messiah, Isaiah speaks of Israel -- as messiah. The rabbis can ALSO say Isaiah 53 applies to the messiah (although that would be rare, because the messiah himself is not spoken of in Scripture very much, but the Messianic Era is. The fact is, the Messianic Era is far more important than the messiah himself.) Nevertheless, nothing in the passage in Isaiah says the messiah would die without first fulfilling the messianic prophecies... and dying itself is NOT one of the messianic prophecies. (It would be circular reasoning for Christians to say that the messiah dying is one of the messianic prophecies because Isaiah 53 says the messiah will die, and Isaiah 53 is messianic because it speaks of Jesus, who died to fulfill messianic prophecy.)

God is One. God is Love. In One Love, there must be Lover and Beloved. So you see in One God--Love--there is a Lover and Beloved. So the Messiah, as LORD, is the Beloved sharing One Love with the Lover. In other words, there is equality between the Lover and the Beloved in diginity and nature and power.

@@maishchaitoff9684 You right God is One. But when a Bible say God is One all it means is that there is NO other than Him. Now you have to know the difference between existence and essence. When it comes to God, God exist as indivisible One Being. But not just another being but One Being qua Being that contains all. And in what manner or what is the essence of this God's existence?? The essence or the whatness that which describe His who-is-ness is LOVE. In Himself, His Love and His Life are One and the same. But it is obvious that God is pure Act meaning God Speaks. This Speech of God is Love. In this speech of Love, creation comes into being. Now, we know God spoke His word, and thru His word, creation comes into existence. What we have to know about Yahushua is that---way before He came as human being, He was that Word of God. This Word is a perfect revelation of the Speaker. U see as in Love, in Speech, there is a Speaker and Bespoken. The point is there is no division in One God. We don't believe in Three Gods. Rather, eternally in God the Speaker/Lover perfectly United with His own Word/Beloved in absolute perfect Speech/Love. God speaks eternally I Love You. We exist in this and by this love. "I" is the Father, "You" is the Son, and they are united perfectly forever in this one pure Perfect "Love" who is the Holy Spirit. Yes God is One and yet God also reveals His existence is an absolute Tri-unity or God is the absolute unity of Three Persons in One.

The Jews rightly reject Christianity's false understanding of Messiah being God/Divine, however, they err greatly in rejecting Yeshua (Jesus) as the Messiah and Savior of the world. The time is coming when the eyes of both Jews and Christians will be opened to the truth that Messiah Yeshua is a 100% man created by his Father and our Father, Almighty YHWH, for the purpose of making us one with our Creator once again.

Don't let them twist the narrative on our ancient religions, of course there has been a negative history, but Jews and Christians have also had a positive history, the differences are only theological, the values however are dearly held by both Judaism and Christianity, peace, harmony, love, giving, making the world a better place etc, they are virtually identical.
