This performance is a tear jerker I sing it to my kids on the sligh because my misses think it's depressing but it's just fact and fact is more depressing than life.

Teaching or singing your children such things is not depressing, it makes them appreciate life that little bit more. A little time to make a difference, somewhere.

Flaming Lips version was played at my best friends funeral, a few weeks later I saw Neil at Salford and he performed this and it literally brought a tear (or two) to my eye. Through the DV website I got in contact with someone who taped the concert and he sent me an mp3 of this from the gig, which I lost when my pc crashed, and I had no details for the guy who sent it to me...so I really, really thank you for posting this !

Also a sort of casual Flaming Lips fan here. I love the sound but find it gets a bit samey. I think The Soft Bulletin in particular is a fantastic record, and Yoshimi is good too! Have you heard Neil's cover of 'Time to Pretend' by MGMT? It's rather gorgeous.

@joekelly38 OMG this was my fave DC gig ever at The Lowry? Adem were the support, I had a seat at the side in what felt like the Royal Box, when they played this it was so moving, love the original Flaming Lips song too but this is special
