I was in Florence, the birthplace of Dante, today and hearing this. While I was approaching the Piazza di Santa Corce and I saw the great monument of Dante, this segment 29:44 was playing in my headphone. Gave me goosebumps!

The narration should be a requirement of all performances of these pieces.

i didn't know there was a narration (im playing the ascension) and i love it omg. this guy especially did an amazing job
@loganmazer37166 жыл бұрын
wild stingray I’m also playing the ascension. In your band what’s your percussion doing during the singing part? I noticed this band didn’t do what’s written. In mine, we have one player bowing the vibes and a bunch of others using crystal glasses pitched to C to make the eerie ringing tone

Logan Mazer hi! I’m one of the percussionists in the video:) we bowed two octaves of crotales on C and G. We initially used singing bowls but preferred the overtones on the crotales!

Amazing. Dante was a genious, and his work is just fantastic. Robert W Smith and all the orchestra made really a great job :D 5:07 "LUCYFER, THE DEVIL HIMSELF" THAT'S EPIC

@kevinsmith52026 ай бұрын
I played timpani on this piece in high school. What an epic piece of music! Too bad my music program in my high school was trash and we could barely fudge our way through it. I always wanted to perform this piece with an ensemble of talented, dedicated musicians. That day never came for me.

The entire piece was fantastic, but I must say that Inferno was my favorite movement. I mean, I might be playing that solo at the beginning sometime in my life (at the very least I hope).

Brooke I played the inferno and transposed the solo to English Horn, I think it sounds a lot better at the beginning. You should take a listen to it. kzbin.info/www/bejne/q3yrdKt9mttggqc

Playing this piece next Saturday. I noticed something weird while listening to this rendition with the score at hand: from 26:42 on (bar 11) and after 29:28 (bar 60) in Paradiso: The mallet player is playing a dotted 8th Bb and 16th C instead of a 16th Bb and dotted 8th C. I wonder if this was intended or a weird fluke noone noticed during practice, because it gives a whole different vibe (percussionist pun right here) to that piece.

this whole piece is absolutely magical and this band seriously brought it to life. inferno has had my heart since i first heard it from my high school wind ensemble, but now hearing all of the movements, paradiso is just so ethereal and "divine" and grand. this entire performance was just so awe inspiring also, am i seeing things or is that both a soprano AND a bass sax together in the same ensemble???? :O
