During the lockdown in Covid 19, Jesus came in my dream and explained what the holy spirit is. His explanation was in line with the belief of Orthodoxy. I was born in a muslim family in Bangladesh, where most people are devout muslims. I used to believe that Islam is the one true religion until I started reading Quran tafsirs in the lockdown. After going through the Islamic scripture, I was devastated. Then I sought refugee in Christianity, but the trinity concept seemed confusing to me as I was raised with the Tawhid concept. Then that dream happened. At that time I was clueless about holy spirit. Later I watched a lot of videos about christianity and trinity. But I never found this energy term. Later I started believing it was just a dream. But this video made me rethink about the dream! Probably Jesus came to me intentionally as I was seeking the truth back then!

Roman Catholicism is definitely the dominant theology in Christianity, regardless of if you agree with it. St. Thomas Aquinas is the face of Christian theology, and his writings have shaped lots of arguments for the existence of God, explanations of how grace is provided, and more.

I’m not officially an Orthodox Christian, but this is the revelation the Holy Spirit gave me on the nature of God as well 🧐Actually, much of what I’ve witnessed from orthodoxy so far has only echoed what I’ve found first hand by reading scripture and seeking God daily. It’s really hard to relate to any of the religious variants under the Protestant blanket now. My life has changed drastically since adopting a more Orthodox mindset. So when we feel the presence of God in prayer, is this the Holy Spirit in essence or rather the energies of God? I assume from this point of view it would be the energies of God, in which case do the energies come from a specific member of the trinity or the trinity as a whole? Because I have always believed that we feel the Holy Spirit while praying, and thus if it is the energy and not the essence I feel, would it be an energy from the Holy Spirit or from the Trinity as a whole? If someone could explain this it would be rlly helpful.

nice. a lot of what you mentioned is what i've also gathered from reading Scripture, but there are a few differences. one example is that it seems since the Son is begotten of the Father and the Spirit proceeds from the Father, they are seen as lesser than the Father in some way. however, because the Son and the Spirit are of the Father, they are co-equal with the Father. the Son is also the Word. we cannot say God's Word is less than God. to us, He and His Word are one.
@colmcille9669
@colmcille9669 9 ай бұрын
Perhaps your impression of lesserness stems only from temporality, which is not part of God. At no point was God the Father in existence "before" the Son or the Holy Spirit, so no temporal hierarchy of greater and lesser is in play. These are just words we use in our own framework of reference to allude to God beyond it.

@@user-pj7sq7ce1f First of all, could you kindly cite scriptural passages that support your claim? Second, Palamas proposed that the essence of God is distinct from the energies or operations of God and that the latter were multiple, even infinite. This sounds like a multiplicity of parts or things within or around God. In fact, some theologians have accused the language of “divine energies” (in the plural) as teetering into polytheism, although no Greek Orthodox would grant this. Further, Saint Basil uses operation or energy in the singular, and not the plural. It is the unity of divine energy that proves the unity of the divine essence/nature (ousia). If one were going to argue for a plurality of energies, then this would end with an argument for a plurality of natures/essences…which is heretical and polytheistic. But Saint Basil argues from the one operation (energeia) to the oneness of the divine essence (ousia). (See ST Basil, Letters, NPNF 8, 189.7). If we were to grant the Palamite teaching that the operation of God is pluriform, then Saint Basil’s argument would lead to a conclusion that the divine ousia is pluriform.

The Scriptures DO NOT SAY that God reveals Himself through energies. What does the Bible say? God is revealed to us through Jesus, His Son. "Word" was translated from the ancient Greek word Logos. Which to understand I would urge you to look up it's meaning. Personally I would use the word "plan" instead of word. John 1:1 will really be confusing if you are trying to understand or prove the trinity.
@YeshuaSaves3
@YeshuaSaves3 11 ай бұрын
@@andrewbrown9497 Logos is the creative force of the universe and does not mean “plan” as you want to believe. We know it means word as in word because John 1 is echoing Genesis 1 which is talking about God creating the universe by His word when he spoke things into existence “Let there be light”. So the context in John 1 is speaking of this word of God. No need to confuse something that’s already clear.

@@YeshuaSaves3 is creative force the meaning of Logos? Can you give reference to where you get this. Being that word, thought, reason, logic, wisdom, plan, are all possible words that could be used without changing John 1:1 in the smallest way. Giving a meaning to a word that doesn't have the same meaning changes the meaning of the verse. I urge you to look up the meaning of Logos, and search the scriptures to see what is true.

@@YeshuaSaves3 You are only giving a trinity definition of what Logos became. Not the writers ancient Greek definition. If you look up the meaning to "Word" obviously it is referring to Jesus. If you really want to know your going to have to look up the Greek meaning. Word was the word the translaters used. Thought wisdom, logic, wisdom, reason and plan. can also be used in place of Logos instead of word. Isaiah 43:11 tells us I even I am the LORD and beside me there is no saviour. The question is if Logos means person in the beginning. This will need to be shown as true. We do know God had a plan for our salvation in the beginning. Was the lamb of God slain before the foundation of the world? Was that the plan in the beginning. If Logos was a person then that would have to be shown that he was a person with God that was God but not another God. Find out the truth.

I'm a bit confused on this topic and i need some clarification. As Orthodox we say that the purpose in our life is the acquisition of the Holy Spirit. Firstly is the acquisition of Holy Spirit identical with Theosis? And secondly, when we referre to the Grace of God as a divine energy of God towards us men, how is that differentiates from the acquisition of the Holy Spirit? Is it a "lower state"? For example we say that an elder has the Grace of God in Him. By stating that i logically suppose that he cannot be spirit-filled because the Holy Spirit is not a divine energy of God but one of the Persons of the Holy Trinity.

Spirit and Word (thought/mind) make up the essence of the eternal life. All of the aforementioned transcend Mass Energy and Space Time. The Eternal Spirit and Word was first revealed to Adam as Elohiym then revealed to Abraham Isaac and Jacob as El Shaddai That same essence was revealed to Israel as YaH! Then revealed to the world in the son Yahusha and is now revealed in every believer for we are now the temple for that same Eternal Holy Spirit and Word. This is the power YaHusha said He would be seated on the right side of when He comes in clouds of glory! God’s essence was in the Incarnated Word of God, Jesus, Second Person of the Trinity. But, everyone only knew it through His human operations that were accompanied alongside by divine operation. He walked like a human, but walked on water like God. His essence was cloaked in His humanity. Anytime that Jesus began to lift the veil, like at Mt. Tabor, the three Apostles had to hide their faces and fell to their knees in fear, because the glory and power was too great. So in short, the essence was present in the life of Jesus, but He cloaked it, He had to. If He didn’t, no one would be able to stand, or even live, if the power was fully realized.

This is why theologies are a distraction from what is true and knowable... Jesus is one with the father... He has made him known. Jesus said, If you have seen me, you have seen the father. God is not "energies" -God is his very word. In the beginning was the Word, And the Word was with God, And the Word WAS God. The name of Jesus is THE WORD OF GOD. Stay grounded in what Jesus speaks to you in the gospels Furthermore, the apostles tell us exactly who God is; God is Love, and he is light, and in him there is no darkness. Corinthians 13 speaks of what the essence of love is... this is the character and nature of God.

Hmm, I think "Biblical Unitarians" say and think the same but use different words. So we would consider God the Father the essence, the being, the unknowable amd unfathomable in some sense. While the Holy Spirit would be his extension of himself, his "operational power and presence", his "energies", visibly and tangibly manifest on earth and umistakable. Not a seperate person, but personal and not some mere force. Jesus would be a human who imaged God properly and faithfully, empowered by the "energies", and one through whome the energies manifested powerfully. A rose by any other name would still smell as sweet....

@senorsiro3748 I'm not denying that is what the Orthodox church teaches. I was simply stating how similar the views of "Biblical Unitarians" and Orthodox were regarding these matters. "Biblical Unitarians" are under the impression that the New Testament, when read plainly, without the interpretation of the Orthodox or Catholic Church, teaches that the Father, the one named Yhwh (I AM) alone is the true God. One single person, never created and all powerful. That the Holy Spirit doesn't seem to be a person or a seperate person, but a way to talk about God's presence and power when it is visible or active on the earth. And that Jesus seems to be a man like us, whose life started in the womb, like us. However his life started not by a man or a man's seed but by the influence, will, and power of God, aka the Holy spirit overshadowing Mary and creating the life starting in her directly, making God Jesus Father. Jesus was empowered by God, given the spirit, and when he ascended was given the authority to extend the spirit to his followers as Acts 2 says, so the spirit is God in action, but in the Christian life also Jesus in extended power and presence at times too. Though ultimately God is the true source of it.

No my friend, dont be deceived by Ephesians 2:8-9 These verses are usually quoted by protestants objecting to the christian teaching of any works being required, but they are misread. Ephesians clearly talks about "works of the law" which are deemed unnecessary for christians because this term is specifically about the mosaic law. This is a response to the heresy which the apostles rebuked. This heeesy claimed that only a good jew could be a good christian, which is wrong. However we are called to follow the commandments of christ and have faith. James 2:24 says that "faith without works is dead", because our faith is only faith if it is manifest in our deeds. Please read the full chapter of james 2, its abundantly clear on this topic. God bless
@TomPlantagenet
@TomPlantagenet Жыл бұрын
@@awuriefnejqwjmnwn4960Ephesians 2:8-9 doesn’t say “works of the law” but merely “.works”. In Romans chapters 1-5 Paul makes the case that a person in justified (made righteous before God) through faith. If we try to add works we negate grace (Romans 11:6). When Kames uses the word “justified “ in 2:24, we can tell by the context that he is using it as in “to vindicate “. In verse 14, it reads “What use is it, my brethren, if someone SAYS he has faith but he has no works? Can that faith save him? “ The point of this passage is someone claiming to have faith, but they are making an empty claim. Their works demonstrate the veracity of their faith. So James here is contrasting true and saving faith, which is vindicated by works and empty or false faith where works are absent. A person is still saved through faith but that person will produce works as a result of salvation. Hope that clears this up. God bless!
