I just started Division 2 in 2024 and hit level 15 so far and I find this game pretty fun so far.

Advice for new players from my point: 1. Do the main campaign. 2. Do much of the side missions, takeover points, ally activities etc to earn decent EXP. 3. Find what weapons you enjoy using, use the shooting range to test out every weapon, stats and gearset bonuses. NOTE: Red = offensive stats, Blue = defensive stats and yellow = technical stats. 4. Find the best gearsets to make use of the bonuses unlocked for the right weapon and mods. 5. Balance your stats for armor, dps and skill. Don't mix and match all. but instead have more armor to start with until you have better confidence in surviving battles. Consider in increasing power for dps or skill while balancing armor. 6. Don't ever be reckless in combat, if you are low on health get into cover and use your medkit. 7. Fire when the aimsight is red. Try not to waste bullets and reload in cover, not out of it. 8. Try to use the right weapons to kill enemies depending on your enemies' range, eg use your shotguns if they get close. NOTE: Consider equipping one close range weapon and one long range weapon. Use pistols, not saw off shotguns, when you have no ammo for your main weapons. The saw offs are best used with a shield. 9. Increase world tier, when you become more confident in combat or need a harder challenge from NPCs. 10. Keep weapons you enjoy using the most, dont overhoard your stashspace and mod space. Also, for mods, maintain and aim to keep the highest ones. 11. Consider making and maintaining and saving your builds, which 16 is the max amount, Research sources or study your talents for chest and backpack for armor, and for weapons. Take your time. 12. Update your gear for every three levels for each set piece. 13. Use the junk option when discarding gear to gain materials. For now, gain money by selling loot to buy essential items you need in store. 14. Need more info? ​​@@zacharytheriot1285 Sorry for the late reply, the side missions only raise exp for levels to reach requirements of wearing gear. You dont have to do side missions you can wait and complete them later. EDIT: if you need better gear drops you must raise the tiers. But only raise them when you are strong enough and well geared to tackle the harder content.

Good tips Another good tip is mark everything you don't want but before you deconstruct or sell first go to the projects person and see what equipment they need donated. I sold everything and then found out the 3 holsters I sold I could have donated.

Great video GC, listen to G's advice, take you time and you'll get to end game. It's worth the grind as in my opinion there is no other game like it. I do have a small tip however, if you are struggling playing solo, you can matchmake at the start of each mission to get some help from other players, its also a great way of meeting players, making friends and enjoy playing the game together. As most comments suggest don't worry to much about builds until you reach end game. Play to your strengths, use the cores ! ie if you need a bit more weapon damage add a red core to your build, if you feel your taking to much damage, add a blue core and if you play more tactical in cover let's say, add a couple of yellow cores for skill damage. As someone who just started a few days ago using the assault drone and assault turret while sniping really helps with solo running specially with skill upgrades I run lvl 3 and am tearing through levels

I would say that it would be a good idea to discuss more on the stats that equipment and weapons have, explain what these stats mean, and when they are useful. Honestly, this probably should be a whole video. There have been times that I have been asked by someone to check their build and show them how to improve it, and when I ask them about what advice they've received in the past, they would say that they were confused by the terminology used. For example, someone said to go 6 red, 150/50, or another variation of the same suggestion: all red, 150 CHD/50 CHC. In the community, we use acronyms a lot when talking about common things. In the example, CHD stands for Critical Hit Damage and CHC means Critical Hit Chance. The "go red" or "all red" phrases refer to the core attributes on your body equipment being weapon damage instead of armor or skill tier. The reason why this is a common suggestion is because weapon damage is very consistent compared to some skill load-outs that people may use and is a decent indicator for how much damage you can do and how well you can handle harder enemies. For those wanting build advice, I would suggest that you identify what play style you like(Damage dealer (DPS), healer, tank, bruiser, status effect skill-user, skill damage user, etc.), and what weapons you like, and go from there. When you've chosen your play style and weapons you like to use, you can then identify what stats mean the most for your build. A skill damage user would want yellow cores (skill tier +1) along with skill damage and skill haste because higher skill tiers make your skills more powerful, skill damage attributes are self-explanatory, and skill haste allows for your skills to regenerate quicker. A tank player would focus on blue (armor) cores and have blue attributes such as hazard protection, explosive resistance, or armor regen; the health attribute unfortunately doesn't do that much in the game. Picking the talents on the chest and backpack really depend on what you want to do with the build, so the moment you know, you can easily search through the lists of talents and pick the best ones for your build. The desired stats on the weapons you choose really depend on the build, but typically all automatic weapons (Sub Machine Guns (SMG), Assault Rifles (AR), and Light Machine Guns (LMG) use Critical Hit Damage (CHD) and Critical Hit Chance (CHC) as good common attributes. Marksman Rifles (MR), also known as sniper rifles, love the headshot damage (HSD) attribute. You will have to consider health damage, armor damage, damage to targets out of cover (DTOC), and seldomly would you consider accuracy or weapon handling.

Awesome advice. Would be good to better understand the gear mods also. I've seen the same mod but with a different sub heading (as a non specific example, defence, armour on kill, dexterity but then also you might have defence, armour on kill, stance or something along those lines). How important is the difference between dex and stance and some of the other multiple sub headings, if any?

Its a very good game with a great story and active community. As a new player to division 2 don’t fuss about gear and stuff, just use the gear that fits your play style and compliments how you take on challenges. Until you reach level 40 and endgame just enjoy. Once you reach level 40 and endgame certain builds will Come into play. Gcrock has some epic build vids that are easy to understand and great to use.

When in the world tiers stage of your playthrough, from world tier 2 onwards you will get access to targeted loot and this will help to make builds that enhance your play style. Use your map to check where specific weapon or gear items are more likely to drop and do the activities or missions in that area. When going through world tiers, you don't need a perfect build, but a good one that plays to your strengths will help

what a awesome and easy to understand guide thx mate, currently level 14 played for 3ish days so addictive i freaking love a cover shooter game never played one before was hooked since the intro xd, i usually just popp my turret in the middle on the room somewhere with good overall reach and start shooting and moving from cover to cover real fast ganging them up, if it ever gets tigth even with the turret i just popp my striker drone and its game over

Don't think hive is a good first skill. Dying isn't that big of a deal, don't waste a skill on reviver hive. Use seeker mine or drone or turret, for fun. Fun is more important.

100% agreed because on your way to end-game most content is on story and there’s no real reason to take on any challenge higher than hard unless you want a challenge. New player here and I striker drone first because it gives you additional dmg/kills and it’s pretty tanky until higher difficulties.

@@Frvnklin In the end game, hive is very good. There is a good reason to play Heroic at the endgame - for better quality loot. Hive can be bad as a first skill. But it has a place in the endgame.

Here's a basic run down of how builds work. Builds work off of synergy, each and every piece goes together to make a unique build. Shotgun gear applies to to shotguns, if you want more crit chance or crit damage, go for crit chance gear or crit damage gear. Don't just wear something or use a weapon just because it looks cool. The coolest thing in div2 is common sense, so if youre not using a shotgun, try not to wear shotgun gear if you can help it, unless it enhances the build. Once you get to endgame, this process will matter even more. A fairly simple process.

Late on this Xbox players if you start at warlords of New Yorks a lot of achievements will lock unless you make new character and start at base game I made this mistake wouldn’t want anyone else too

Playing the main campaign also gives you the opportunity to unlock Weapon and Attachment Blue Prints, which will come in handy when you reach New York. Gain these Blueprints by clearing Control points at Challenging or above, Challenging at level 30 is alot easier than Level 40 because these NPCs have not been boosted to compensate for the Gain in power by the SHD watch or the expertise system.

I have to disagree with you about the reviver being the best first option. While very nice to have I have found that it doesn't always work properly and can occasionally not revive the player. The first 10 levels are very easy and I would recommend using the turret. The standard assault turret can and should be placed on a high up location making it nearly impossible for the enemy to hide. You can then literally hide behind cover and wait. I've had one turret take down over 9 enemy's and was still able to pick it back up and only have an 18 sec recharge wait period. It's so overpowered in early game especially if you are running solo it's like have a Terminator sidekick. The enemy's will lock on to the turret desperately trying to damage it,which they never do. This allows for sneaky headshots on unprepared foes. To me there is plenty of survivability in the early game, so to me more offense makes more sense. Just my opinion. Please do a Hardcore Edition, I have been trying for some time to get the 'Hardcore Gear Distinction' commendation, where you need to Reach Gear Score 500 with a Hardcore Agent. Explain how we go from Level, to Gear Score to SHD Score etc, as I am confused, and I have been playing the game since Div1.

Top video! I started playing this just before xmas and last night levelled up to WT2. Was unsure if to carry on with the tiers or skip to WoNY but this is the video I needed. Carry on to WT5! Most of the videos I've seen are about this epic build or that God mode build, which all looks good but I know I am serious farms and hours away from that. If you've NEVER played Division 1or 2. Skipping the main campaign IS NOT an option. You will have no idea who & why your killing! Each faction have different mechanics & origins. The campaign helps you adjust to this, as well as gear, weapons & the map! You just doing yourself an injustice from experiencing a one of a kind looter/shooter, if you BOOST! -When season 11 drops I will be available to help new players.

Personally, I would say to definitely scavenge all the resources you can as this will come in handy - especially with the boosted capacity limits from one of the last couple of updates. This will definitely be helpful when the time comes to levelling up the crafting bench and for recalibration of weapons.

Not the secondary weapon no, but the specialization yes. To do this, go to a build and press in the left stick I think. There is an options settings where you can sort your gear etc. And here is also am option to show/hide your mask and specialization

Is it true side quests dont give extra exp for lvl 30 that just doing the story till 30 is best then do side missions or was this a lie?

The side mission xp scales with your level. So your still getting the same amount of xp you would be getting if you were to to a side mission at lvl 5 or lvl 28. It's really what you want to do. The grind really starts at lvl 25. So if you wanna save the side quests till then, do it. But you still have to get there first by doing the other side content in the game.

I'd say its still very active. Players will only appear in safe houses and hideouts, and PVP. It may also be because you are a lower level if you are not max yet. Doesn't doing side missions when you are a higher level give more xp? I think I left side missions until later because for example 1000 xp at level 5 but 5000 xp at level 10 for instance.

This could be a good idea, but I would say that it comes down to preference and how quickly you need that next level up. If you love doing open-world activities like hostage rescues and control point take-overs, then saving the side missions for later would work well for you. However, you gain experience from all the enemies you fight during the side mission and you are rewarded with experience for completing the mission itself, so the side missions are big sources of experience if you really need a level boost. I would say that you shouldn't hold off the side missions for too long, because even though you are gaining more experience the longer you put the missions off, the required amount of experience needed to level up increases as your level increases, so there isn't as much of a big pay-off for holding off on completing side missions. Side missions also may help unlock weapon attachments or provide SHD caches which are useful to have, so there is more incentive to complete these sooner rather than later.

Just, for the love of dog, make sure you tell people NOT to purchase the borderline unplayable PC version. It constantly crashes and makes the game unplayable in some circumstances. Youll be crashing repeatedly, constantly and if you do get lucky enough to find a group to raid with or just run around with, you will see why most people avoid the pc version of the game. Its shocking ubisoft has gotten away with letting it stay in such a pathetic state for roughly a year or so.. great game, just not on the pc platform.
