Didn't notice if you mentioned this, but weapon donations give a full half level (44000) vs. 8800 for gear pieces. So 20 weapons donated gets you to proficient vs. 100 pieces of gear. If you got the cash, hitting up the vendors for weapons is a good way to go, like you said, especially for weapons you never plan on using.

@@zeroch1ll150 Any proficiency gained adds to your expertise level, which dictates how much you can upgrade your gear. You pretty much have to get proficient with some junk/lesser used gear to get your expertise up or you'll plateau pretty quick, so kind of a trade-off.

I appreciate this video. It makes me feel like I'm not alone in the aspect of playing the game to get expertise because so many videos are people using cheese to get their levels up. I use these methods and they do work . The fastest I found is putting your gear choice on countdown to a gun type AR, Shotgun etc and it's beneficial because you get awesome guns and it only takes 20 guns to proficient a gun compared to 100 for gear items. While in count down wear all your builds until all parts are proficient. Ultimately when I've got higher lvls on everything I'll do countdown mods to get perfect mods and printer filament to max out the remaining. That's my plan

Good guide, I’ve just been targeting weapons, started with ARs as I was trying to get kingbreaker. It’s working pretty well. Edit: I also concluded that printer filament was best for material donation upgrade.

@@geoffrogers7590 it is because it's the easiest material to get by a long shot. Despite being "rare" you can goto a area with mods as the target loot and basically farm filament. Common materials should be easy but it cost a lot of those just upgrade your proficient weapons and gear. I'm expertise 5, but I've been struggling to get enough Steel & Reciever Components to get my Pestilence there despite those things roughly coming from the same place. Brand sets & Gear sets are easy. All these content creators are telling everyone's the basics. No one is really explaining the nuances of the expertise system. It's gonna be hell once it comes to leveling Skills & Specializations Weapons. Proficiency is based on Kill experience and it is not effected by difficulty, directives or awards. The only thing that effects it are the rank of enemy from common to elite (named). I have a whole right up I've been trying to share with the community but my people keep deferring to the community but they're ultimately going to hit a roadblock when it comes to Specializations & Skills because they don't actually understand how it all works because they're depending on donating materials from their watch or buying dupes from the shop.

Many now use the Main Mission "The tombs" to rankup proficiency in a very fast and easy way.. just use 1 build to defeat enemy in NORMAL mode, and fill the backpack with 6 pieces of armor with the same brand that needs to be upgrade (proficiency level).. just before entering last area, where we'll face many Theo Parnell's decoys in the open field, change your build to that 6 pieces of the same brand armor.. and also equip "EMP pulse" and "sticky bomb".. after jumping the fence and running to the center of the field, use EMP pulse to destroy at least 4 of the decoys (or 6 decoys if you can) by holding the button just before passing the car on the left while running to the center. and after we destroy the decoys, we'll see the EXP from it. the just shoot the sticky bomb next to your feet and detonate.. press the Respawn and we're back to behind the fence and ready to repeat the process.. 1 cycle of this will take around 20 seconds (including loading time for respawn).. and the prociency level up speed we got from this... yummy, very delicious.. 😋

Golan gear chest piece counts towards The Pointman named chest piece. And both are currently in the shop today.

Please also keep in mind that once you start ranking up your Expertise after Proficiency on a set of items it won't transfer across to other characters you have which also have that item, i.e Character 1 has a Capacitor. You rank it up 3 times with Expertise, the same gun on Character 2 won't be changed. Only the Proficiency rank stays. This needs to be addressed asap.

Working as intended. Getting proficient is account wide but each item is unique and therefor you’ll have to level up every weapon/gear on each character. Makes you have to both grind and be smart about what you upgrade.

It’s another way from the devs too make you farm more ! You never gone feel stronger in this game because they make the npc’s stronger (tested that ) and you feel it ! I played this game for 4000 hours and I know the difference.

IMO using the items is the best way. Not too many Chatter Boxes float around the world. I have almost twenty days (about 456,5 hrs) in and I have had two Chatter Boxes, but I have been on rank 10 for days. RNG keeps dropping me Chamelon's and Kingbreaker's, but I hardly use them. Builds also increase the rank fast + plus it's more fun to roam and play the content than just grind the material for donations.

Hi Patrick, are you saying that donating Name items will increase the Brand Set and the Name item proficiency as well? That's only workable for gear and brand set, however not going to work for weapons I guess?

Named works for that named item. Not the brand .named are separate to brands. Same with weapons the burnout and famas are the same type but level up separate as one is named.

I did your trick by finishing NY on my other character for the shd tech. I got 700+, but had to get off after finishing. Now when I go to my main character the shd tech is no longer there but it is on my side character. Any idea what to do?

Only increases that items armor value. Weapons are better to do first as weapon damage scales better

Go to your inventory and look at your resources.there you can see wich faction drops wich materials.

In the SMG section of the expertise bench towards the bottom there's a UMP45. Not UMP-45 or any variant, just UMP45, white text, nothing special. I've run dozens of countdowns, some with SMG targeted, and have been donating everything. I'm at 0 proficiency on the UMP45. Does this gun exist?

I upgraded my kingbreaker Original weapon damage = 126.3K Upgraded 1% Now weapon damage is 126.9K 1% should be 12.6 I basically got 0.5% upgrade there thank you

I found that it’s a percent of the item not your total so like total armor is from that actual piece not whole armor.

It is off base weapon damage and base armor of each piece it doesn’t take into account if it’s a blue armor core of 170,000 So upgrading gear is worthless Weapons and skills are worth it on the ones you love to use

When do you get the extra 1% armor for gear pieces? I upgraded a few to say 1% but I don't get the extra armor... Do you have to hit expertise level 10 first or something?

It’s 1 percent of that items armor not your total armor so you won’t really notice yet. I would rather do weapon damage first however it’s up to you. Go to your armor value in stats and it would have increased. If not take piece off and put it back on.

You need to get the item to rank 10 - Then it's Proficient. After that you can use Expertise to push the armor/damage up on items. The cost goes up each time so keep an eye on your resources. For viewing an increased armor value, look at the base armor (ie. mask 80k) it will go up by 1 each time you rank it up with Expertise.

I’ve gotten to expertise level 5 and upgraded my armor on 4 pieces of heartbreaker and there is absolutely no change to armor stats either base armor of the piece or total armor so I’m not sure what that’s doing for me. With weapons I can see it goes up once I do it. Please explain. Thanks!!

To upgrade your favourite gun fully(grade) you need to level up proficiency of other items even if you don’t use them. This increases expertise level your grade can only be increased as high as your expertise level.

I'm no subscriber but you can just donate gear and weapons from world drops that are not proficient it's the fastest way to level up expertise or craft weapons and gear and donate them but gotta mark them as junk first.

@@MauriceG85 basically donated printer filaments will slow down the higher your gear gets . Example: when you start this method , buying a mod at the White House and then deconstruction of it gives you 600 printer filaments, as you keep doing this it will Lessing the amount of filaments you can get. The best and smarter way is to make all your gear proficient by equipping a six piece set of whatever brand that you need proficient and go to countdown until it and run count down until it gets proficient. Do this with each and every skill as well as gear pieces keep it equipped until you have the proficient star next to it once you do this then create another character run through warlords of New York by getting someone to speed run you and then you’ll have all of the E credits to buy all the filaments you need to make them higher in proficiency

@@vv-o-l-f9155 im kinda forced to do this because I'm only shade level 1290 and exp level 8 .(As far as I am aware I should do the mule at level 1800ish) I used most gearsets and fav guns in countdown, but I noticed its gonna take a whole lot of countdowns to get max proficiency with (signature) skills. Now I want to use mats, but I don't have them(enough) and I don't want to do endless mat runs on solar farm(boring) So now im kinda stuck. Doing a lot of countdowns with weapons as targeted loot to get them max proficient

Still need a lot of mats though. Maybe I'll go to WONY, but haven't been there a lot. Don't the right places to farm for mats. DZ south and west seems to work as well. But people there can be quite annoying...

I can't get this to work anymore for me... My expertise level is 4. 102/200. That number has not changed since last yr. My proficiency 46/367. I'm tired of trying. Seen so many videos.. no progress. My watch level is 548.. the highest gun damage I have is 933.4k. My second weapon is at 995.6k. I see other players watch score over 3000 and there weapon damage is much lower but there All weapons damage bonus is just a few points higher than mine. I just don't get this game. Loosing interest in trying.. not that fun anymore. Bored

The whole point of this expertise nonsense is idiotic. We shouldn't be forced to play with weapons, gear and skills we dont want to play with in order to make our main build better. It should just come through playing with our main builds, weapons ect.... through experience points. Whoever thought of this ridiculous system should never work in gaming again
