Funny story. I was born on Fort Clayton, Panama right before the Panamanian invasion. When I enlisted in the Army, I found out that my First Sergeant was at Fort Clayton that same year with his father, who was a Marine Corps commander. He was 10 years old at the time.

Yes! We get "Will Dixon" from the game "The Walking Dead: Survival Instinct"..... but I don't recall the T being part of the name. HOWEVER... I have a name for his grandfather! Looking through the casualty lists for D-Day, Invasion of Normandy, I find a John Dixon Jr. killed in action! Now John Dixon Jr. WAS a real life soldier (US Marine Corps!) so it may be unfair to attach his RL name to a fictional character, but it does fit! So... we have John Dixon Sr. (Great grandfather) John Dixon Jr (grandfather), William Dixon (Father), Merle Dixon (son) and Daryl Dixon (son) along with Uncle Jeff Collins (probably Daryl's mother's side due to the last name.

Now we understand the background of the Dixon family. I researched the landing at Normandy. June 6 1944. If William T. Dixon was killed on Om,aha Beach, leaving a pregnant wife, then Will Dixon, Daryl's father, would have been born any time from June 1944 to February 1945. Since the majority of American soldiers involved in Operation Overlord were 18 - 20 years old, I place G. Dixon's age at 19. He very probably either enlisted or was drafted at 18. I'd say drafted, because his "pregnant wife" was probably fairly newly wed, or he would not have left voluntarily. She raised Will the best she could, but yes, with no father in the home, he had no real guidance. If she named her newborn son after his dead father, Daryl's father's name was "William T. Dixon Jr."

I posit that he married Merle and Daryl's mother in that year or maybe even at 16 or 17, having gotten a girl pregnant (with Merle). Daryl's birthdate (if you take Norman Reedus') is 1969. If you push that to 1970, and have Merle's in 1962, that's an 8 year gap and the timelines fit. Since th4 majority of boys killed at Normandy were 18 - 19 years old, I place William T. Dixon's birthdate at around 1925.

I'm not understanding all this hate regarding Daryl's attachment to France. Sometimes when someone is focused on one thing it changes into something else even if they don't mean for it to. Daryl has gone through a lot with these people so when Losang's like "you kept your words and now we're going to keep ours, there's a vessel waiting whenever you're ready". I'm not really surprised that Daryl is torn. When has Daryl really let him have something for himself? He's in this new place where he feel he's needed. Doesn't mean he still doesn't want to go home just maybe he feels like he's not done with France just yet. I'm really glad I never watched TWD during it's 11 season run or I might not be able to see it in a different way.

I like that they left it ambiguous about what Daryl is going to do at the end.

The show did some alright characterization on daryl and it wasnt too bad... But seriously... The days of the old twd are over and this show did not really improve on the old show imo while dead city did... The writing is pretty decent but sometimes it just feels kind of weird how characters suddenly behave and daryl got plot armor that is even worse than in twd... I find the child to be annoying and though i really didnt want to hear these complains you can really feel many similarities to the last of us... It is really sad how the walking changed from the strong stories from season 1-5 to this... I really enjoyed season 6-10 in a different way than 1-5 but since season 11 or even the end of 10 it is not possible to recognise the old show... I really hope that the second season will be better and that the rick show will be a 10/10... Didnt care too much about dead city but it is for sure fun and feels more connective to twd than this

Daryl Dixon character, cant go wrong with him, I just hope show dosent go the same way as walking dead snooze fest, every season new boss/enemy, it gets dull with same scenario every season ! Hope to be more character development between these 4 ! Lets go deep guys ! Dont make this season about killing that French lady boss, make story go deeper than just fighting :) Btw love the idea of little Messiah :)

Man, you guys failed like never before with this. These French people, why would Daryl Dixon care about them so much, to the point where he's going to waffle back and forth about actually leaving? He's been with them for a short time, barely knows them, but for some bizarre reason, he has a "Connection" to these people? This is Daryl Dixon we are talking about, do you guys know who the character is? Why would he even HESITATE to have a chance to continue to look for Rick and reunite with Carol or Judith, etc.. You guys messed that up, it's like the writers don't even know the character

Unfortunately, mouth breathers lap this tripe up...And of course over praise it just because the production is higher... AMC has skimped massively on writing/directing talent for TWD for a long time. Clearly, nothing changes. As long as these blinded-by-fandom viewers still tune in we are unlikely to see change. It's actually depressing. Maybe they can redeem themselves with The Ones Who Live--but have major doubt.

Show needs more characters interaction and less of zombie killing and action. We had enough of this over the year’s. Tell real stories like with that teenagers camp. It’s probably the best episode out of this season. Also there’s quite some unnecessary plot holes and it feels somehow completely out of character for Daryl to stay with a woman and boy he maybe knows for 6 months max? And leave search for his brother Rick and his family he went through so much shit over 12 years behind.. like there would be no choice at all for og Daryl here. But overall decent show. Just some annoying stupid plot holes. Why would cordon just go back to the lady after killing her man.. what he has from her.. why not return home or go somewhere else.. makes no sense. I hope writing for season 2 will be much better. Work with the good characters there are. Tell dramatic stories that’s when twd is at his peak. Not when where’s hordes of zombies or people to slay.
