Hi Carla!! Thank you so much. Actually these pieces can be cleaned with a mild soap and water. The gun metal trim is actually a plastic. And the other fabric trims are iron trims embedded with rhinestones. The paint, is a multi surface paint that doesn't need to be sealed and it is permanent and washable. This set is still one of my favorites. I do use it a lot and so far it has held up very well. I hope that helped answer your questions. Hi Bertha!! I'm so glad you found the channel and that you like the DIYs!! Depending on how many vases you have to upgrade and the style or theme you are going for, you could maybe try adding strips of bling wrap or fabric trim into the grooves, or just decorate the front back and sides. You can paint them, (spray painting is faster than the hand painting techniques that I use.) However, if you can email me a photo, I'd be happy to try and give you more ideas.
