@Colin forever maybe. It's never been definitively stated what caused 6 to regenerate. There's a theory it was trauma from the turbulance, and a source that said 7 triggered the regeneration internally.

I think it also helped that the outfit was toned down a bit, with a red tie and waistcoat with patterns that not only matched, but also kind of flowed with the over coat's look better Still a visual riot, but less so than when Colin wore it; I would agree, regardless, that it fits Sylvester McCoy quite well

Timelords are basically portrayed as a satire on the British upper class, a breed of folk who behave with pretentiousness and pomposity, while acting or dressing in a way that would look ridiculous to anyone else. Posh people are well known for horrendous, loud colour arrangements (I went to uni at a posh university and bright green or pink/purple trousers were not unusual). I remember one of my friends who worked in psychiatry saying that "eccentric" people were what you were called if you were posh, but you'd just be thought mad if you were anyone else.

The one thing I really love about this scene is the Doctor's reaction to the Tetrap walking in. He instantly snaps from being over the top, zaney and scatter brained and instantly becomes totally serious, giving a really 'Doctor-y' look.

The acting is passable - the writing and atmosphere, not so much. That awful multicoloured costume, falling around the studio, big foot with a glitter-gun - it doesn't get more pantomime than that, and it's not the actors fault.

RopeDrink Dude that was Colin’s costume. Of course he has to wear it; he just regenerated. I really love the music and special effects in Time and the Rani, and I actually hold it as having Sylvester’s best performance in his run. But yeah the writing is pretty bad. Not as bad as some of his other stories like Greatest Show in the Galaxy, but not that good either.

+Jon Smith Big Finish (more like 'lacklustre finish' after a bout of fan-wanking) appeals exclusively to fans. Regular people would never listen to that crap. The actual show is made to appeal to a broader audience. Talk about attitude, fans just slag off DW all day long, while praising fan-fiction. I'm sick of it.

TheValeyard92 I think it's just the timing really. Film has always been an industry of social ideals/opinions but recently people have become more sensitive to it. The original Planet of the Apes was super preachy, for example, but it's considered to be a sci-fi classic. If they adapted it true to the original commentary it would be called leftist propaganda.

Unfortunately, it took until Season 25 before the writing became good. McCoy was given some really shoddy stories in 24. But he's still one of my favourites.

Remembrance had a lot going for it (unfortunately, that goofy synth drum music was still in the background). That was one of my favorite McCoy episodes as well. I thought Silver Nemesis started off great, but didn't quite live up to classic villain expectations. Still, it was one I remember above others. McCoy and Ace made a great team even if their era was less than my favorite for sure.

I know it's cuz each Doctor usually wearing their respective costumes when they regenerate, therefore the newly regenerated Doctor starts off wearing their predecessor's costume for continuity. But to me, each Doctor looks kind of weird wearing their predecessor's costume and always feel relieved once they've changed into their own costume.

All the renegade's were recalled once the time War came around the Rani would have been forced to return. Not saying she couldn't have found some way of surviving but her being exiled doesn't make her exempt from the time war

Before it was revealed that Michelle Gomez was to play Missy, I was sure based on the mysterious scenes prior to the reveal, that Michelle Gomez was going to play The Rani. She definitely had that whole "Soul of Science" thing going on in those scenes.

I think it's great that Colin got you into the series. I thought he was fantastic too. He just came at a time when the BBC was having major doubts about the series, so it had a lot of problems back then as far as strikes, delays, etc.. I still consider Attack Of The Cybermen a must-see episode that ranks right up there among the series' best. In fact, I personally consider that to be the last truly great episode in the entire series.

Well, the Master was possibly the best known villain of who besides the Daleks or Cybermen. Rassilon is an important character in Who backstory, and plus they needed a leader for the time lords. The Rani isn't a particularly memorable time lord; plus, she's not evil and doesn't crave power, just knowledge.
