Indris are just so cool. Their calls are some of the most amazing and wonderfully bizarre produced by any animal on Earth, IMO.

Touché and I do see how one might believe his theory of what Marco Polo saw was a Lemur, but it is not so because when you read on in his description it should then become clear and when you look at the description from the journal entries from Christopher Columbus, Alexander The Great, and the Spanish explorer I cannot think of his name damnit and a few others from history all of their accounts line right up even with some of the church leaders who wondered if they could be redeemed and saved. All one has to do is look at the 2 preserved bodies in the museum in England one is female and preserved in very good condition and a male who went through a decent bit of deterioration before it was saved from the elements.

Too bad BBC didn't have the budget for colour film back then...

I know I'm replying to an ancient comment but a lot of Zoo Quest was actually shot on colour film, it's just that colour television wasn't a thing yet.

Very fascinating, but hardly an explanation of eyewitness accounts of dog headed men by a variety of sources throughout the centuries. The dog headed men in the historical accounts were described as more human like with tribal structure, primitive clothing, shelters and even agriculture.

I've heard there was a group in India that had headwear made to look like a dog, but I'm definitely no expert in indian cultural history. Its still inr reresting that he would reference marco polo

Dog headed men, while interesting accounts have no reasoning behind them. No canid in fossil or recent history has shown a precedent for that kind of evolution. And even if you don’t believe in the concepts of evolution because of religious or personal ideologies it’s still non-understandable to how “dog-headed men” of all things could exist. Imo there’s more reasonable explanations to be found, like for example a large baboon used to exist in parts of Africa that I’d believed to have developed adaptations for bipedalism and many tribes are known for having worn animal skins. I think a mix of these factors led to the idea of the so called dogmen

Everything about the lemur is awefully creepy and odd like to me. Not exactly sure why this is maybe just too close to home for comfort. And I don't feel I will be changing my mind on this matter anytime ever.

@@liberaldriller9884boomer? stop being so divisive. It is fact that at one time Attenborough was a "serious" observer of wildlife and conservation. Now he's just a bloated bloke caught up in his narration ego trips. (btw i'm not a "boomer", but I do dislke divisiveness of generations, races, sexes etcetera)
