Argue all you want, Hasek IS the greatest goalie to ever play the game. No goalie ever won the Vezina trophy - best goalie, Hart trophy- league MVP, and Pearsons trophy - players choice all in the same year AND a gold medal to boot! Three time Vezina winner and two time Stanley Cup winner. And he played the game the way he wanted to. Mind you he got a shutout in his gold medal game, and a shutout in a triple overtime playoff game against the Devils and Brodeur. Bow down to the goalie god cause thats what Hasek was at one point in his career.

Thank you for putting this great video together. Im from Chicago and became a fan of Hasek in 1987 at ten years old when i watched him play in the canada cup. Later on as a teenager playing goalie, I was very fortunate to see him play in Chicago his rookie year. I then fallowed his play when he was traded to Buffalo. He will be forever my favorite goalie of all time and I consider him the greatest goalie to ever play in the NHL for all his accomplishments and spectacular saves and dominating play. He took the position of goaltending to new levels.

Both of my kids learned to skate in the Hasek's Hero's program. Even when he was playing with Detroit he would come in if he was close to skate with the kids... Best goaltender ever!!!!

Was amazing growing up watching him everyday and every time I went to games I was in awe. Every kid including me was hasek for street hockey. Everyone wanted to be him. So grateful he played for the Sabres. Glad he won a cup as a starter

Hasek’s most underrated gift was his recognition that the two pad stack is the most useful move a goalie can resort to in almost any high-danger situation. Case in point, 1:20 - Hasek’s two pad stack has completely protected the bottom 3 feet of the net, six feet across. When the puck comes to 77, he throws his arm back and makes a spectacular save, because there’s only one place that puck can go if it’s not shot directly into him, and that’s back door. So it looks spectacular, but it’s all set up because the pad stack gives the goalie a predictable set of outcomes, if he’s clever enough to decipher them on time. Hasek was.

I grew up watching him. I was a goalie and wanted to be him. Lucky I got to see him play in his time. I played like him but didn't realize it until I started watching him. It works if it comes naturally to you.

I'd put Brodeur in 2nd. The reason Hasek is the GOAT? Just compare the teams Hasek backstopped against the teams in front of Roy and Brodeur. The team in 1999 was totally blue collar.

Thanks for people like Dominik, there is not enough good even in this video. He is so great that he involves him self in support of regular people and I hope for more famous people with similar natural great attitude and humanism in them, because not every sports icon can be also a good person, but we know that Dominik is one of the few who are skilled and can give more than gold medals! I was fortunate enough to see Hasek play twice at The Forum versus the Kings! First game he stopped Robert Lang on a clean breakaway , he allowed 2 goals and got the win, Pat lafontaine had 4 assists . Following year hasek let in 6 goals …when he’s good , he’s awesome , when he’s off, he’s really off. Best play I’ve ever seen him make was when he knocked over his net so the senators couldn’t score after he played the puck from behind his net and passed it to the senator …they counted the anyway and I think he was penalized for it too

everyone in czech national team was great but yes dominic and Jagr are the most popular and extraordinary , but czech republic is a country with population about same as new york that's 30x less than US and we still manage to be at top rated teams in hockey there are 2 things that you cannot insult in czech republic and that is Hockey and Beer :)

But in some way He did exactly this, with admiting that he can live like he lives now only because of His success in the NHL. But just look at his journey, it was just matter of skill, luck and enormous hard work that he deserve what he obtain and manage to obtain. He still represent the good of the nation and his personality is great in almost all ways possible. Just not everyone is physically and mentally capable to achieve what those best players was/are, they are as unique as great engineers or scientists in their fields. In slightly different way but they usually also for their skill in sciencess or capability of think out of order can achieve to make good living out of it.

and do you consider the hard decisions some players had to make ? Czechoslovakia used to be part of USSR and it was hard to get out of country and if you did you were not allowed to come back and you can't know if you will have success in future , he definitly was not financially secured at the beginning to be the best or one of the best in the world is not just about talent but the hard work you need to put in and how much pressure you can take like he said his team counting on him gotta be stressfull
