I don't agree that Russia is full of thieves. It's not true. I know from personal experience that things can be left unattended and no one will take them. A lost phone or wallet is often returned to its owner. The police are very polite, always ready to help. He tells these stories that I don't agree with. I can swear that the service is at a high level everywhere (he says that the service is not very good).

the first mistake is that in Russia you can count on the map everywhere, even in remote villages, the second mistake is that we have many times fewer pickpockets than in the same Europe, where pickpockets are simply teeming. And a number of other nonsense from this man. Foreigners who already live in Russia and know exactly about the quality of service, responsibilities and nuances of various kinds will tell you more or less correctly. And listening to some nonsense is a waste of time.

4:17 I recommend taking photos of your passport and this registration card and to keep them in your mobile phone: when you are in town, Russian policemen can ask you to show those documents. If you don’t have them on you, the police can take you to a police station in order to find out who you are and if you stay in Russia legally. 4:26 the info is OUT of date: you can NOT pay with your American bank cards because Visa and Mastercard switched off their services in Russia in 2022. The best way is to open a bank account in any Russian bank which will issue a “Mir” card in order not to carry cash on you. It’ll take 20-30 mins. FYI: “Mir” is a Russian pay system which replaced Visa and Mastercard. 4:43 I live in Moscow, Russia. All the stores accept bank cards. Perhaps in small towns they don’t. 5:14 the average rate is 1 USD = 100 Rubles. You can see the current rate on the internet. You can change USD into Rubles with their official rate in any bank. 5:52 higher prices for tourists is a normal thing in many countries.

Thanks for sharing, although Russell's video was mostly BS..To really learn about modern Russia, you should watch YT channels like e.g. "EXPAT American" & "Countryside Acres". The latter follows a Canadian family with 7 children who moved into Russia & now have their own little farm there. P.S. A visa is a conditional authorization granted by a country's government that allows a foreigner to enter, remain within, or leave its territory for a specific purpose and duration. It is typically placed in a traveler's passport and is distinct from the actual permission to enter the country, which is granted by an immigration official at the port of entry. Here are some key points about visas: 1. Purpose: Visas are issued for various reasons, such as tourism, business, study, work, or transit, and are defined by the traveler's intended purpose in the destination country. 2. Types: There are two main categories of U.S. visas: nonimmigrant visas for temporary stays and immigrant visas for those planning to live permanently in the United States. 3. Issuance: A visa is issued by a U.S. Embassy or Consulate and does not guarantee entry; an immigration official at the port of entry determines eligibility for admission. 4. Requirements: To obtain a visa, applicants must meet specific requirements and provide necessary documentation, which can vary by country and visa type. 5. Duration and Limitations: Visas often include limits on the duration of stay, areas within the country one may enter, and the number of permitted visits. 6. Processing: Visa applications are processed by the relevant embassy or consulate, and some countries may use third-party providers for initial application screening. 7. No Visa Needed: Certain international travelers may be eligible to travel to the United States without a visa if they meet the requirements for visa-free travel. 8. Issuing Countries: Visa issuance procedures and requirements vary by country, and some countries may have agreements that allow visa-free travel for short stays. 9. Visa-Free Travel: Some countries offer visa-free travel for citizens of other countries, allowing them to enter without a visa for a specified period. 10. Visa Policies: Countries have different visa policies, and travelers should check the specific requirements for their destination country before planning their trip.

A visa is not a passport. A visa is a country's permission to enter it. Relations between countries can be different. For example, citizens of Germany do not need a visa to enter France and vice versa, and citizens of Belarus do not need a visa to enter Russia. But citizens of Germany need a visa to enter Russia and vice versa. It is not difficult to guess that with such hostile relations as between Russia and the United States, citizens of these countries need not only a passport, they also need permission from the host country to enter, that is, a visa. Visas are issued at the embassy or consulate of the host country, sometimes there are electronic visas. As for crime, basic precautions are always useful, but generally speaking there are far fewer thefts in Russia than in the United States, and street robberies are generally rare. The main type of crime in Russia is fraud. A policeman is not your enemy and you should not be afraid to ask him for help in different cases, they are almost always friendly, including to an American. You can argue with a policeman, but politely, NEVER hit a policeman or insult him, it can end in prison. As for various kinds of signs and superstitions, this is more from the category of customs. For example, you should only give an odd number of flowers, but for a funeral - an even number. Or you should not greet across the threshold, otherwise you will quarrel. But do not take this too seriously, in fact, Russians also take this with humor - no one here will get angry if something is wrong. Your politeness and goodwill are much more important than such nonsense as superstitions. Opening an account in a Russian bank and getting a Russian card is very quick and easy. Even at the airport. You can make any payments without cash almost anywhere, and if you have a Russian SIM card, just by phone number, without a physical card. Electronic payments are much better developed in Russia than in Europe (I don’t know how it is in the USA) and are comparable to the Chinese level. Many young people in Russia do not have cash at all and pay only by phone. Oh yeah, important, don't exchange a lot of money at the airport, just the minimum amount for a taxi to the hotel, the airport has a bad rate. Exchange money at banks, the easiest way is when you open a Russian account. The first thing you do when you arrive is buy a Russian SIM card, the second is open a Russian account and link it to your phone number. No problems after that.
