While I would tend to agree with you, I just heard a song, “What I Say” by Ray Charles- that’s a clear swipe by Morrison. I’m not sure he was ever credited and/or paid for it. I’m still looking for any verification of it. But it’s def the same song.

The heavy use of dark in this video serves as a perfect backdrop for Morrison's raw energy which just bursts out. Whoever directed this captured the Doors essence: powerful, mysterious, threatening.

You know the day destroy the night Night divides the day Tried to run Tried to hide Break on through to the other side, Break on through to the other side, Break on through to the other side, yeah. We chased our pleasure here Dug our treasures there Can you still recall the time we cried? Break on through to the other side, Break on through to the other side. Everybody loves my baby, Everybody loves my baby. She gets, she gets, She gets, she gets high... I found an island in your arms, A country in your eyes, Arms that chained us, eyes that lied, Break on through to the other side, Break on through to the other side, Break on through... Made the scene from week to week Day to day, hour to hour The gate is straight, deep and wide Break on through to the other side

This is, and always will be the best version of Break On Through, the way Jim sings the lyric "Break On Through to the Other Side" is a lot different than any other version of this song. There's so much energy behind it not seen in any other recording of this song. Any Doors fan will know what I'm talking about.

I get your point.... compressed crucible energy. morrison at this point was searing in talent & energy. they came in like a guerilla task force team here of rock and roll..... there is however, a couple of other songs, where this type of turbo focused energy comes to the forefront. not to touch the earth is scary power. take it as it comes another one. my eyes have seen you. & late, the changeling.

I'm 61 and what memories this triggers. I grew up in So California during the 60s and 70s and my parents would drive from Orange county to Sacramento 4 or 5 times a year to visit relatives and we would drive hwy 1 all the way down the coast with my dad blasting the Doors, Creedence, Rolling Stones, Beatles and more. They would smoke these funny looking cigarettes that smelled like dirty socks

One of the most iconic psychedelic songs by The Doors with our debut album in 1967, Break On Through The Other Sides classic. I feel like The Doors legacy will never die. It will live on forever. It may be 2024, but I will still listen to this music to this day and share it with the younger generation of the psychedelic sound of The Doors with good rock ‘n’ roll motivation to kick ass.

It so happened that sometime in mid-July of 1965, college acquaintances Jim Morrison and Ray Manzarek, met up on Venice Beach. They retreated to the shade underneath Venice Pier, and sketched out the lyrics to "Moonlight Drive" in the sand, saying "We'll be rock stars!". It so happened that 11-year old me was fishing out on the end of Venice Pier every single day in the summer of 1965, so I was there!

The most underrated song by The Doors, their hardest rock song IMO. The people in 1967 weren't ready yet for a hardcore song like this. It flopped and the second single release Light My Fire went number 1. A super classic Doors song. Short, hard and rocking.

My grandmother asked what to present me to my 16th birthday. Most of all I wanted "the Doors" musical cd. Now it is behind me and I am 44 now. When I was young I've spent endless nights in tears with his songs, knew them by heart, loved him, also Led Zeppelin and Janis Joplin. Now I have rather tough times, at least need to "break on through". Is you feel sad, lonely or have problems, no matter man or woman, write to me if you'd like to, I'll be glad to hear your story.
