The phrase Mr Mojo Risin is a scramble of his name Jim Morrison. All the same letters. I’m 64 years old and have been listening to this music since it came out. My brother is 10 years older than me and I listened to everything he listened to, classic rock, early sixties and Motown.

They had already acheived astronomical heights in their success by the time Jim died. They have so many iconic songs, and I mean really iconic. People Are Strange, Riders on the Storm, Light My Fire, L.A. Woman, Touch Me, Break on Through, The End, Roadhouse Blues, Love Her Madly, Hello I Love You, Five to One, Love Me Two Times...it goes on and on. These songs have been in so many movies/tv shows, they're easily recognizable even if someone doesn't know it's the Doors, but they're in the culture now.

Mr. Mojo Risin' is a anagram for Jim Morrison's name. He is also known as The Lizard King. "L.A. Woman" is a dark song, with warnings about the underbelly of any big city, but Los Angeles in particular. Some of the lines like "Motel, Money, Murder, Madness, Let's make the move from glad to sadness" and "Are you a lucky little lady in the city of lights, or just another lost angel, city at night", really set the dark tone. I don't think there are any live versions of the songs on this album by The Doors because it came out so close to Jim's passing, anyone know any different? The cat, Pepper, was too cute for words.

This song is not about a "woman." (human wise,) It's about the city of Los Angles. The lyrics make this perfectly clear. "I see your hair is burning," refers to the Hollywood Hills that grass that catch fire each year from the warm Santa Anna winds every late summer into fall. "Driving down your Freeway," and many more. It's about the Love Morrison had for this city in the 1960s. I doubt he'd still feel the same today, as L.A. is a dump.

Looking forward to watching you listen to this, after I take grandchild home to his parents. This was the first album I bought with my own money, in 8th grade. I'd been buying "single" records for a few years by then, but this was special. I was already a Doors fan because my older brother had a couple of their albums, but when this album was released and the song Riders on the Storm hit the radio airwaves, big bro was off in the navy, so I had to pony up the big bucks to buy the album for myself. This is a great song, it will be interesting to hear what you think of it.

It truly is a brilliant piece of work. Are you familiar with an extremely important punk band out of Los Angeles named X? John Doe, Exine Cervenka, and DJ Bonebreak., but Ray Manzarek, the keyboard player from The Doors produced that album and also played on it Every song on it is fantastic and it just took the counterculture nation by storm. Ray is heavily featured on at least a couple songs, but he is just so heavy on the keyboards on Nausea. Add one of my favorite songs on the album is actually a doors cover, with Ray Manzarek leading the way, Soul Kitchen. They all just totally kill it.

Don’t just credit Jim - Ray, Robbie, and John were the musical heart (with some session players, like they didn’t have a bass player in the band). While Jim gets credit for most lyrics, the other three did write music, credit for lyrics , especially when Jim was so addicted. My favorite Doors albums are Waiting for the Sun, LA Woman, their 1967 origin, and Morrison Hotel. I’ve visited Jim’s grave in Paris -you have too. 😎

You can find on youtube a video to "LA Woman" with Jim Morrison driving an old mustang in LA and the desert, it is very interesting and eerie. I guess a camera person was in the car with Jim the whole time filming,, but it is really great to watch. Jim stops at a gas station puts gas in his car then back on the road. Towards the end of the video while Jim is driving, the radio is on and a DJ says "Jim Morrison has been found dead" and this is while Jim is driving the car! If you really want to get a feel for the doors and Morrison there are a few things. 1, Watch the Movie with Val Kilmer playing Morrison. Think it was called The Doors. 2. realize the Vietnam War at the time, and today, we know Jim's Dad, was the Rear Admiral in charge of the Gulf of Tonkin Incident that got us into the War, and we also know that was a 'false flag' and never actaully happened.
