THE DOORS "L.A. WOMEN" NEW UHQR RELEASE CUT BY BERNIE, but DO we need it?

L.A. Woman is my favorite Doors album. I was only 10 years old when L.A. Woman first hit the streets earning 50 cents a week allowance! I first heard that album just shortly after it was released because my older sister had bought the LP and played it often. About 8 years later, after she had gotten married and moved away, I learned that she had sold off her record collection without letting me have first crack at it. To say I was disappointed in hearing that news would be putting it mildly! Presently, I own the AP 45 RPM version, the same (or what looks to be the same) minty repress that you have, and also the most recent repress that replicated the original die cut jacket with the window of the original release. All sound great, especially the 45 RPM version cut by Doug Sax - what a wonderful pressing! I also have the Rhino 50th Anniversary edition from a few years back with the LP, CDs and booklet which is a very nice set. Lastly, I also bought the RSD L.A. Woman sessions box set from a few years ago. A fascinating deep dive into those sessions. I did not hesitate to order the new UHQR today. Jumped all over it.

If you are a packaging completist you’d want the UHQR, but there are so many other artists that can use the UHQR treatment. This one is sort of redundant

Yeah I'm a fellow Long Islander.Grew up in Astoria n Sunnyside. Was in high school when the Doors came out and always loved them..There records were very well recorded ,my step father had a Motorola console stereo one of the big ones with 12 " Woofers and playing them on it was Fantastic. Of course ,I could only play them when he was out ,lol.Thru the years I collected alot of Doors and now have 70 albums and over 100 cds bootleg etc.I have the 45 rpms,music store days all of them...I have a nice set up and I'm 72.You have a nice set up and great vinyl collection. I Sold all my Vinyl back in 2015..1100 for $1400 now have over 1500 and cds like 4000 plus cassettes and enough audio equipment to open my own vintage store....take care enjoy the weather...G.

i sold my la woman 45. everytime i picked it up i would be lazy and just put the side with la woman. then i put on the side with riders on the storm. and thats it. i did that everytime. never listened to the changling, love her madly, hacyinth house. nothing. just those 2 songs. so i sold it and i was going to buy the DCC since its on 1 lp. but then this UHQR is announced and its perfect for me. same thing happened with strange days 45 rpm. i would put on when the music is over then id be done. never listened to strange days, people are strange, love me two times. so i sold that and bought the DCC which im very happy with.

I own the AP 45 and box set you showed. Bernie Grundman cut the Sessions box which sounds fantastic. I'll be skipping this UHQR since the Doug Sax mastering is off the charts good.

I think Chad Kassem get only license for 45 RPM Releases and UHQR Format in 33 and 45. The regular 33 Atlantic did Rhino for their own. I think the licenses are not cheap, so Chad did what he can to make money. Many Analog Production Fans want a 33 Release from Doors Records, so he can do an UHQR. That's business😁 I have the Rhino 50th Anniversary Box Set with the LP cut by Bernie Grundman and 3 CDs with the Sessions. The LP sounds pretty good. I have also a german first press and it is good. Hey Tony. When AP did a CCR box set some years back there was 45 rpm version followed later by a 33 rpm version, and I got the 33 rpm. I understand that licensing arrangements prevent AP from releasing 33 rpm versions of, for example the Steely Dan catalogue. I bought the Doors Infinite box sets when they were announced (vinyl and SACD), but I really wish they'd cut the vinyl at 33 rpm. Another 'LA Woman'? Well, I don't care for the 45 rpm format (e.g. the upcoming Atlantic 75 will release 'Foxtrot' and 'Close to The Edge' with their full-side epics instead spread over two sides), and I don't like those massive UHQR boxes, so 33 rpm and the clamshell box format are least steps in the right direction. Now, about that price...

Have many versions including the AP 45. Also lucked out on the RSD outtakes but really that has nothing to do with the actual album. I preordered as soon as I heard about it because this will probably sell out before release.

do some titles that don't already have great pressings all analog classic rock, psyche, prog, jazz fusion genres who, stones, beatles, zeppelin, floyd, cream, renaissance, mahavishnu orchestra, return to forever, moody blues, billy cobham, uriah heep, montrose, deep purple, king crimson etc etc the pretty things, coliseum, rush get your sales people and lawyers to get better, at getting tapes from the UK also start NOW negotiating a deal with another label, to do another series like the atlantic series all analog 45 rpm pressings (if its so hard to negotiate these deals get busy on it now

Hey Tony....I have the Analogue Productions 45 RPM album so Im on the fence about getting the UHQR. It would be great to have the UHQR 33 3 RPM for the more extended play per side, but im not sure about this one. Great video ✌️

Chad said the 60 dollar 45 RPM is a little better sounding than this 125 dollar UHQR If you’re an audiophile why buy this then???? Save yourself some money! People who don’t like 45 RPM might go for this but the 60 dollar version is the better sounding version

I have the DCC pressing on vinyl of LA Woman and the 45 Rpm Analog Productions pressing. Personally I prefer my DCC copy. With that being said, I am on the fence about this UHQR LA Woman..Dont see why in the world they picked this record again.

After I bought all of the Analogue productions 45rpm doors records are they going to do all of them at 33 uhqr? If so, that would be very disappointing. Especially since they won't sound better than what we already have...
