I was born in 1959 and I have three older sisters that listen to the radio all the time, so I remember when all this stuff came out, so yeah I was there when this music was playing on the radio, that makes me so happy!! Now at the age of 64 I'm still listening to it, and I'm fortunate to have all my sisters yet! Rest in peace Jim Morrison, you were a big part of my life even if I didn't quite understand it at the time! The holy s*** I get it now

Jim was an outstanding personality. He was intelligent, educated, incredibly well-read. He had a great voice. He was the Lizard King. He never left us. I love his poems and his incredible wordiness. Jim has found his peace. Take good care of yourself out there, my friend !

I'm pushing 70 in a couple of months and my first exposure to 'HIS' music was as a pre-teen. I LOVED HIS MUSIC THEN and love his music today. What a master of music!!! It was a very sad day when he passed away. What a true loss to the musical world!!!! I still miss him and what music he could have created!!!

My mom loved the Lord with all her heart and died early at 51. As a small child I would see her in the kitchen doing dishes and she would be singing this old song. My how I miss her tonight. Hug your living loved ones and tell them how much you love them because when the Lord takes them home it will change you forever. I am 65 now but I still remember her singing this like it was yesterday. May this song bring you hope and comfort!

That was the last song recorded by the Doors. After that, Jim fled to Paris to lick his wounds, reinvent his life or some other such thing. We will never know because he met with his end there. He had become our Shaman, our leader that was going to show us how to survive life. But he learned too fast and burned out before he could enlighten any of us. In the 53 years since, I learned to forge my own way, to fight the fights I could win and compromise the fights I could not. I finally realized he had left us the answer, this song. We were all Riders on the Storm. "Into the world we're thrown." It is up to us to shape our own path. Don't wait for anyone to show you. Your life is in your own hands, make something out of it. I did.

Very true! Love everything you said! He was before my time, but my dad raised my sister & I on The Doors, Zeppelin, Stones, Rush, CCR, & many more classics... Jim Morrison & The Doors was always my favorite! Still are to this day. I listen to these guys almost daily. When I need a reality check & my spirits lifted, this is my go to music. He died way too young. I feel like he was cheated, & had way more to offer to this world. Same w/ Janis Joplin.... I love Jim, always have always will.

Still have all the words memorized to this day, but had not listened to it for probably 20 years. Listening to it today, I realize: Jim really was a wise man. Such a shame that he had to move on from our world so early.

Indeed! The 60s were incredible!! Jim Morrison was one of the best entertainers & vocalists of all-time. To think he had only been performing for 4 years at this point at 25 years of age. I did 4-way window pane with Jim & Ray in 1968 & Jim was incredibly lucid for doing the full 4-way pane. I did 1/4 & i was seeing trails and the walls were melting & the floor turned into a river. I was treading water as Jim bought me a shot of bourbon & a miller beer to chase it down..

I remember this song like it was yesterday. It gives me goosebumps at certain points in the song and at other points, it's just simply mesmerising. It can't be overstated how great Jim Morrison's vocals were. He died way too young. Truly one of the greatest groups of the sixties. Yeah, the song also reminds me of a certain girl i was in love with at the time.

Ray rearranged the music of Ghost Riders in the Sky written in 1948 and the words were inspired by a movie script Jim was working on about a serial killer hitchhiking the highways of America killing families. The whole song was a fluke.

@@daveydudely9954 Franck Sinatra never claimed he composed a single rif . He did CO write a single song which is obscure. Mickael Jackson's name on every song he sung. Did he actually compose and write songs? Sorry, but I very much doubt it. Composers just agreed to share the rights.even half the rights was still very good money.

Robby Krieger had nothing to do with creating "Riders on the Storm". Jim took the words from an old screen play he had written about a serial killer hitch hiking the highways of America slaughtering families. Ray Manzarek's music was adapted from Ghostriders in the Sky written in 1948 by Stan Jones while he was working as a National Park Ranger and Tour Guide.

@@davidhounslow1304 GGGGGGGGGGreat to hear from you. Thank you for this priceless information. I am a songwriter and when I sing a song somebody else wrote on a video, the lyricist is always mentioned. All we know is that Jim asked the band to go home and create a song for the band to have as a hit when they were getting started. Krieger went home and wrote Light My Fire and that sent the band into fame that has never ended. I am a singer and I have always been inspired from Jim's vocals.
