I was born in 1959 and I have three older sisters that listen to the radio all the time, so I remember when all this stuff came out, so yeah I was there when this music was playing on the radio, that makes me so happy!! Now at the age of 64 I'm still listening to it, and I'm fortunate to have all my sisters yet! Rest in peace Jim Morrison, you were a big part of my life even if I didn't quite understand it at the time! The holy s*** I get it now

My mom loved the Lord with all her heart and died early at 51. As a small child I would see her in the kitchen doing dishes and she would be singing this old song. My how I miss her tonight. Hug your living loved ones and tell them how much you love them because when the Lord takes them home it will change you forever. I am 65 now but I still remember her singing this like it was yesterday. May this song bring you hope and comfort!

That was the last song recorded by the Doors. After that, Jim fled to Paris to lick his wounds, reinvent his life or some other such thing. We will never know because he met with his end there. He had become our Shaman, our leader that was going to show us how to survive life. But he learned too fast and burned out before he could enlighten any of us. In the 53 years since, I learned to forge my own way, to fight the fights I could win and compromise the fights I could not. I finally realized he had left us the answer, this song. We were all Riders on the Storm. "Into the world we're thrown." It is up to us to shape our own path. Don't wait for anyone to show you. Your life is in your own hands, make something out of it. I did.

Indeed! The 60s were incredible!! Jim Morrison was one of the best entertainers & vocalists of all-time. To think he had only been performing for 4 years at this point at 25 years of age. I did 4-way window pane with Jim & Ray in 1968 & Jim was incredibly lucid for doing the full 4-way pane. I did 1/4 & i was seeing trails and the walls were melting & the floor turned into a river. I was treading water as Jim bought me a shot of bourbon & a miller beer to chase it down..

Jim Morrison, Robby Krieger, John Densmore KLASA SAMA W SOBIE!! Ale to co na klawiszach wyczynia Ray Manzarek to po prostu MISTRZOSTWO!! I na koniec mała dygresja po śmierci Jim Morrisona reszta nie zeszmaciła się tak jak np. reszta Joy Division. Wielki SZACUNEK!!

The very first time I heard this song play on the radio back in the early '70s, I fell in love with it immediately and has been one of my all-time favorite songs ever since,. It never gets old, just like Jim Morrison....💖

Ray manzarek was an intrical part of the doors his mystical way of playing the piano just used to take us to places. Listening to his music when it first came out and Morrison man just unbelievable he was a character died way too early man I can only imagine where his talent would have taken him

First, we have to give a bow to Robby Krieger's songwriting ability. He captured an era and the Doors made sure no one would ever forget that something magical happened in the 60s.

Robby Krieger had nothing to do with creating "Riders on the Storm". Jim took the words from an old screen play he had written about a serial killer hitch hiking the highways of America slaughtering families. Ray Manzarek's music was adapted from Ghostriders in the Sky written in 1948 by Stan Jones while he was working as a National Park Ranger and Tour Guide.

@@davidhounslow1304 GGGGGGGGGGreat to hear from you. Thank you for this priceless information. I am a songwriter and when I sing a song somebody else wrote on a video, the lyricist is always mentioned. All we know is that Jim asked the band to go home and create a song for the band to have as a hit when they were getting started. Krieger went home and wrote Light My Fire and that sent the band into fame that has never ended. I am a singer and I have always been inspired from Jim's vocals. Here's me singing Eric's 'Wonderful Tonight' kzbin.info/www/bejne/bZbNqKOFnpiqj6s
