Long can store 19 digit number and takes 8bytes memory.. and double can store 10^308 and still take 8 byte memory..!! How?

I think it is about codification of long and double because in double there are bits for mantissa and exponent which is not there in Long. You should watch Lecture 10 of C programming language.
