Xiao Heng/Duke Su is not a character it's an art. From the very start showed us his full potential, the powerful aura around him was too radiant, the way he puts everyone under his feet, the way he love and obsessing over A Li, the way he hates anyone crossing boundaries he'd drawn for them. I find him so breathtakingly attractive, he had lived the character and audience, like me, had loved it.

Yes! The Duke is amazing in his role !! And that fan /blade, he worked like an extension of himself. Wonderful. The Duke is addictive, just can’t get enough.

Love this drama! I really like his confidence and intense look. The way he moves, fights, glares, flirts and talks (really love his deep manly voice) - great, great acting skills despice his young age. Duke Su reminds me a bit of Ling Buyi from Love like the Galaxy. Btw, both actors played together in another good drama called Amidst a Snowstorm of Love

I watch a lot of Asian shows on Netflix. Some are aimed at a younger, high school or twenty-something audience or the premise is just boring. The writing is ho hum and formulaic, (I love the Hong sisters. Some of my favorite K-dramas are their work.) or if I stick with a potentially good show the ending is awful, the writing breaks down. Some I just watch for a few episodes and drop them. Others I watch to the end, but have no desire to watch again in the future. I am not very familiar with C-dramas although I watched “Love Between Fairy and Devil” twice, basically because I thought Dylan Wang portrayed a complicated character well. I tried other C-dramas but they just didn’t engage me… until “The Double.” And when did I commit to watching the whole story? The scene when Xiao Heng / Duke Su character is introduced. Wang Xing Yue’s charisma and incredible acting… he didn’t say much sometimes but, boy, you could read his face as the complex character’s thoughts. And he could deliver just a few sentences yet bring a gravitas to the scene that is a mark of skillful acting. His acting is so authentic! No distancing, as in I am an actor portraying a character, like there is a physical barrier. Where Wang IS his character, on almost a visceral level. He is physically comfortable with himself, which makes him able to fully inhabit his character. He is an actor who seems to enjoy himself. I have watched that show so many times, and some episodes many times. I want to mention that “The Double” also had a superb ensemble of actors, such as Wu Jin Yan , as Jiang Li / Xue Fang Fei / Xue Li. Yes, the chemistry between her and Wang…(it is about actors feeling comfortable with themselves physically.) Yikes! (and Episode 17). She also had a lot of dialogue to carry convincingly and never wavered. Great job on delivering her speeches. I also thought Li Meng as Princess Wan Ning skillfully turned her into a Shakespearean tragic character. She portrayed such a complicated woman, who was severely damaged from her time as a hostage. Her emotions could change from cruel masochist to a wounded child in the blink of an eye. I felt very sorry for her despite her cruelty --- doesn’t mean I liked it, but I felt some compassion as to where it was coming from. THAT is great acting. And poor Liang Yong Qi as Shen Yu Rong. I hated him and, I fear, it carried through to the actor until I saw a behind the scenes video. He was talking to other actors saying something to the effect of, “I am an educated, accomplished scholar. How did I become such a pervert?” He was so sincere I laughed out loud along with the other actors. After that, my feelings for the actor lightened up a bit. BUT all the actors seem to be enjoying themselves and did a great job. They engaged the audience, no matter the cultural differences. It made me want to enjoy more from the Chinese film industry.
